Which Broil King Series is Right for You?
Both ranges share the same engineering DNA: stainless steel construction, cast iron grates, iQue Smart Grill connectivity. The decision is not about quality. It is about where the BBQ lives in your backyard.
For the buyer building an outdoor kitchen. The Imperial QS Built-In series drops into a stone, masonry or stainless steel outdoor kitchen island as a permanent fixture. No cart, no trolley, no wheels. Premium tier construction designed to last decades inside a built environment.

For the buyer replacing a high-end freestanding gas BBQ. The Regal Q series sits on a heavy-duty wheeled cart with side shelves and storage cabinet underneath. Move it where the cook is, roll it back to the wall when you are done. Same Broil King build quality, different installation footprint.

Broil King vs Weber, BeefEater & Napoleon
The four brands a $5K+ gas BBQ buyer typically compares. This is the honest version of the comparison, including where Broil King wins, where the competition wins, and where it depends entirely on the buyer.
You want maximum sear and full smart connectivity
The combination of heavy cast iron grates and Linear-Flow valves produces sear marks Weber Summit cannot match at this price tier. Plus iQue Smart Grill is standard, not a pricey optional add-on. Best value-for-spec in the premium gas BBQ category.
You prefer stainless rod grates and brand familiarity
Weber Summit is the safe-default premium choice with strong brand recognition and stainless rod grates that some cooks prefer over cast iron. Weber Connect is excellent but adds cost. Worth comparing if you already own Weber accessories you want to carry across.
You want Australian-made with mature local parts support
BeefEater Signature is built in Australia with the longest-running local parts network. No smart connectivity and softer sear-mark performance than Broil King, but the local-build credential matters to plenty of buyers. Honestly competitive at the entry-Signature price.
Comparison reflects publicly available specs and our own hands-on experience cooking on these brands. Pricing reflects current Australian RRP at time of writing and may shift. Brands referenced are owned by their respective companies and are not stocked by BBQ Republic unless otherwise stated.

The questions buyers spending $5K+ on a gas BBQ actually call us about. Cannot find what you need? Call 0434 010 411.
Can I run Broil King grills on natural gas instead of LPG?
Yes. Every Broil King Imperial QS and Regal Q model can run on either LPG (bottled gas) or natural gas. The Imperial QS Built-In models are typically specified for natural gas because they install into outdoor kitchens where a permanent gas line is run. The Regal Q Freestanding models ship LPG-ready and can be converted to natural gas with the appropriate conversion kit and licensed installer.
Natural gas requires a fixed connection by a licensed gas fitter. We can recommend installers in the Sydney metro area. Call 0434 010 411 to discuss your install before purchase so we set the BBQ up correctly from the factory.
What does the iQue Smart Grill actually do?
iQue Smart Grill is Broil King's WiFi-connected app system, standard on every Imperial QS and Regal Q model. Once paired with the free Broil King app on iOS or Android, you can:
Monitor temperature live across the cook chamber from your phone. Set cook timers and target temperatures with push alerts when targets are hit. Track multiple probes for ambient and meat temperatures simultaneously. Adjust burner settings remotely on supported models.
The practical use case: you start a low-and-slow brisket cook on a Saturday morning, head back into the kitchen for breakfast, and your phone alerts you when the chamber drifts off target or the meat hits temp. It is genuinely useful, not gimmick tech.
What is the warranty on Broil King grills?
Broil King carries an industry-leading 15-year warranty on the firebox and cooking grates, with shorter coverage tiers on the burners, smart electronics and other components. Specific terms vary slightly by model.
That 15-year firebox warranty is the longest in the gas BBQ category. Weber Summit and BeefEater Signature both offer shorter firebox coverage. As authorised dealer, we handle warranty claims on your behalf rather than sending you to chase Broil King direct.
What is the difference between Imperial QS and Regal Q?
Both sit at the top of the Broil King range and share the same engineering DNA. The practical difference is installation:
Imperial QS Built-In drops into a permanent outdoor kitchen island as a fixed appliance. No cart, no wheels. For buyers building or renovating an outdoor kitchen.
Regal Q Freestanding sits on a heavy-duty wheeled cart with side shelves and storage cabinet. Mobile, sits on a patio or paved area. For buyers replacing a freestanding gas BBQ.
The cooking experience is essentially identical between the two. The decision is where the BBQ lives in your backyard.
How does Broil King really compare to Weber Summit?
Honest answer: both are excellent premium gas BBQs and the right answer depends on what you value.
Broil King wins on: heavy cast iron grates for sear marks, Linear-Flow valves for precision temp control, iQue Smart Grill standard (not optional), 15-year firebox warranty.
Weber Summit wins on: brand recognition (huge in Australia), stainless rod grates for buyers who prefer them, mature accessory ecosystem if you already own Weber kit.
Price band overlaps. We sell Broil King because we believe the engineering edge justifies the choice at this AOV. If you want to see both side-by-side before deciding, we have Broil King on display in our Wetherill Park showroom. Worth the trip.
How do I look after cast iron grates?
Broil King cast iron grates are porcelain-enamel coated, which means they need far less maintenance than uncoated cast iron and never need seasoning with oil like a cast iron pan.
Day-to-day care: preheat to 250C for 10 minutes, brush off residue with a brass brush, wipe down with a damp cloth once cooled. That is it. The porcelain coating protects the iron from rust and creates the heavy heat retention that produces the sear marks. Avoid steel wool or harsh abrasives that can chip the porcelain.
If a grate ever does chip after years of use, replacement grates are available from us as the authorised dealer. Call 0434 010 411.
Do you deliver and install Broil King BBQs in Sydney?
Yes. Free Sydney metro delivery and white-glove installation on every Broil King we sell. We deliver direct from our Wetherill Park showroom, assemble on site, connect the gas (LPG; natural gas requires a licensed gas fitter we can refer), and walk you through first-cook setup and the iQue app pairing.
For the Imperial QS Built-In models, install includes lifting into your outdoor kitchen aperture once the island and gas line are ready. Coordinate timing with your builder and we will schedule. For interstate orders, standard freight rates apply and we provide phone support for self-install.
Are parts and accessories available long-term?
Yes. Broil King has been making gas BBQs in Canada since 1986, with a mature Australian distributor network and consistent parts availability. Replacement burners, grates, flame tamers, knobs, ignition modules and gas hardware are all in our supply chain.
The matching accessory range (brand-fit covers, rotisseries, side burners, cast iron griddles, smoker boxes and burger presses) is sized specifically for the Imperial QS and Regal Q chambers. We stock 13 Broil King accessories on the shelf at any time.
