Weber is the most recognised gas grill brand in Australia. It is sold in Barbeques Galore, The Good Guys, and Weber's own stores across the country, and the Spirit and Genesis ranges have a long track record of reliability. If you are researching premium gas grills and the comparison keeps coming up as Broil King vs Weber, this guide covers the honest differences.
We are an authorised Broil King dealer. We do not stock Weber. We are not going to tell you Weber is a bad product because it is not. We are going to tell you where Broil King is better and where the premium is justified, so you can decide which is right for you.

The Honest Take Up Front
Weber and Broil King are both good gas grills. Neither is the wrong choice. The difference is in the specifications and build quality you get at each price point.
At the entry level, Weber Spirit competes closely with Coleman for everyday family grilling. At the mid to premium level, Broil King Regal competes with Weber Genesis and Summit. This is where the difference becomes meaningful.
Where Broil King wins:
- Dual-Tube burners for more even heat
- Rotisserie included at no extra cost
- Solid stainless steel cooking grids
- 15-year warranty on cookbox and lid
- All-metal construction (no plastic to UV-degrade)
Where Weber wins:
- Distribution (available everywhere)
- Brand recognition and resale value
- Entry-level Spirit range at accessible prices
- Weber Connect app ecosystem
- Wider network of service agents
Our position: we stock Broil King because at the premium price point we believe it delivers better specifications for the money than the Weber Genesis and Summit ranges it competes with. That assessment is why we carry Broil King rather than Weber.
Brand Backgrounds
Weber
Weber is an American manufacturer founded in 1952. They invented the kettle grill and have built one of the most recognised outdoor cooking brands in the world. In Australia they have significant retail distribution, a dedicated Australian website, and a network of authorised dealers and service agents. The Spirit, Genesis, and Summit ranges cover entry through premium. Weber products are engineered to a consistent standard and have a strong track record of reliability in Australian conditions.
Broil King
Broil King is a Canadian manufacturer with a history dating to 1986. They are less well-known in Australia than Weber but have a strong following among serious home grillers and chefs who know the brand. Broil King's positioning is professional-grade construction at a price point below commercial restaurant equipment. Every grill in the Regal and Imperial range is built to specifications that exceed what Weber offers at comparable price points in specific technical areas, particularly burner design, cooking grid material, and included accessories.
Burner Technology: Dual-Tube vs Standard

This is the most significant technical difference between Broil King and Weber at the premium level.
Weber's Genesis and Summit ranges use standard cast stainless steel burners running from front to back across the cookbox. They are well-engineered and produce reliable performance. However, all single-tube burners have an inherent limitation: gas flows in from one end and pressure drops slightly along the length of the burner, producing marginally lower heat at the far end than at the inlet end. On a small two-burner grill this is barely noticeable. On a large five or six-burner grill cooking a full spread, the hot and cold zones are more pronounced.
Broil King's Dual-Tube burner design runs two parallel tubes connected at both ends. Gas enters simultaneously from both ends of both tubes, equalising pressure across the full width of the burner. The result is significantly more even heat distribution across the entire cooking surface. No hot spots near the inlet, no cold spots at the far end. Every part of the grill runs at the same temperature.
For everyday family grilling the difference is minor. For serious cooking where you are managing multiple proteins at precise temperatures simultaneously across a full grill, the Dual-Tube burner advantage is real and consistent.
Cooking Grids: Stainless vs Porcelain
Weber Genesis and Summit models use porcelain-enamelled cast iron cooking grates. They are a good grate material: heavy, heat-retaining, and produce strong sear marks. The weakness is the porcelain coating. Over time, and particularly with aggressive cleaning or thermal shock, the porcelain can chip. Chipped porcelain exposes the cast iron underneath to moisture, which leads to rust in coastal Australian conditions.
Broil King Regal models use solid stainless steel cooking grids. Solid stainless does not chip, does not rust, and does not require the same care as porcelain-coated cast iron. They are heavier to manufacture and more expensive, which is why they appear at Broil King's price point rather than lower. They will look the same and perform the same in ten years as they do today, in any Australian condition including coastal salt air exposure.
The Imperial range uses cast stainless steel grids, which combine the heat retention of cast iron with the corrosion resistance of stainless. They are the best cooking grid material available in this category.
Flavour Systems: Flav-R-Wave vs Flavorizer Bars
Both Broil King and Weber use a system positioned between the burners and the cooking grids to manage fat drippings and generate flavour-carrying vapour.
Weber's Flavorizer Bars are angled stainless steel bars that deflect drippings away from the burners and vaporise them on the bar surface. They work well and are a genuine improvement on simple heat tents. They also protect the burners from grease buildup, which extends burner life.
Broil King's Flav-R-Wave system uses a similar principle but with a different geometry designed to maximise vaporisation before drippings reach the bar surface. The Flav-R-Wave plates have a wave profile that increases surface area and heat exposure, vaporising more of the dripping mass back onto the food above. The flavour difference between the two systems is not dramatic but Broil King's system produces marginally more smoke character on fatty proteins.
Both systems are effective. Both eliminate flare-ups from direct burner contact with fat drippings. The difference in flavour output is subtle for most cooking scenarios.
Rotisserie: Included vs Optional
This is a straightforward advantage for Broil King at the Regal price point.
The Broil King Regal Q590 Pro and Q690 Pro include a 15,000 BTU infrared rotisserie burner as standard. The rotisserie motor, spit rod, and forks are included in the box. You do not pay extra for rotisserie capability on a Broil King Regal.
Weber Genesis grills do not include a rotisserie as standard. The Weber rotisserie is a separately purchased accessory at approximately $200-350 depending on the model. This represents a meaningful cost difference when comparing equivalent cooking capability at the same price point.
If you have no interest in rotisserie cooking, this difference does not matter. If you cook whole chickens, roasts, or lamb on the spit, the Broil King inclusion is a real saving at the point of purchase.
Warranty
Broil King backs the Regal and Imperial ranges with a 15-year warranty on the cookbox and lid. This is the most competitive warranty in the category and reflects the build quality directly.
Weber provides a 10-year warranty on the Genesis range cookbox and lid.
A five-year warranty difference at the premium price point is meaningful. Both brands honour their warranties through authorised dealers in Australia. BBQ Republic handles warranty support directly for all Broil King purchases.
Model by Model Comparison
Entry Level: Weber Spirit vs Coleman Revolution
At the entry level, the comparison is Weber Spirit vs Coleman Revolution, not Broil King. The Weber Spirit is a well-built two and three-burner grill at competitive pricing. The Coleman Revolution range is comparably priced and competes directly. We stock Coleman rather than Weber at this price point because we believe the Flare-Free Technology and Australian market positioning give Coleman an edge. Read our full Coleman buyers guide for more detail.
Mid-Premium: Broil King Regal Q590 Pro vs Weber Genesis EPX-335
Both are five-burner premium freestanding gas grills. Broil King wins on: Dual-Tube burners for more even heat, solid stainless cooking grids vs porcelain-coated cast iron, rotisserie included vs optional extra, and 15-year vs 10-year warranty. Weber wins on: distribution and service agent network, Weber Connect app ecosystem. On pure specifications at a comparable price point, Broil King delivers more.
Premium: Broil King Regal Q690 Pro vs Weber Genesis EPX-435
The Q690 Pro adds a second independent cookbox to the Regal range, allowing completely independent temperature zones on the same grill simultaneously. This is a capability the Weber Genesis range does not offer at any price point in its freestanding range. For serious entertainers who need full cooking zone independence, the Q690 Pro has no direct equivalent in the Weber lineup.
Built-In: Broil King Imperial vs Weber Summit Built-In
The Broil King Imperial range adds iQue Wi-Fi and Bluetooth smart control and cast stainless steel grids over the Regal specifications. The Weber Summit built-in range is premium construction and competes at similar pricing. Both are excellent built-in grills. Broil King's smart control, dual cookbox option on the QS690, and 15-year warranty are the differentiating factors.
Who Should Buy Which?
Buy Weber if: you want the most widely distributed brand with the broadest service network, you are buying the Spirit range at entry-level pricing, or you are already in the Weber ecosystem and want to stay there.
Buy Broil King if: you are comparing at the Genesis or Summit price point and want maximum specifications for your investment, you cook seriously and want Dual-Tube burners, solid stainless grids, and an included rotisserie, or you want the strongest warranty in the category at 15 years.
If you are spending Genesis-level money on a gas grill and you have not looked at the Broil King Regal Q590 Pro, compare them directly before buying. The specifications at that price point are the strongest argument for Broil King.
