What Pyralit Owners Say After Buying From Us

Real Sydney customers who picked up a Pyralit from our Wetherill Park showroom. Verified Google reviews, every one.

Verified Google Review

Grabbed a Pyralit ignition unit at the same time and that alone was worth it. Getting coals going used to be the biggest pain before I even started cooking. Now I'm up and running in minutes. Game changer.

Verified Google Review

Grabbed the Pyralit ignition unit and firestarters from BBQ Republic when I was in the showroom. The Pyralit stuff is great for the Big Green Egg, cleaner than what I was using before and lights up first time, every time.

Every Pyralit we sell is backed by a lifetime warranty, with same-day pickup from our Wetherill Park showroom or fast Sydney metro delivery. You buy from a real shop, not a faceless website.

Why BBQ Republic

Not Just a Stockist. A Specialty BBQ Showroom.

Pyralit is sold direct from the brand. Here is what changes when you buy your Pyralit from us instead.

See It Before You Buy — Wetherill Park Showroom

Our Sydney showroom has the Pyralit range on display. Pick it up, feel the build quality, ask questions, and walk out with one the same day. Pyralit is online-only direct from the brand, so this is the only way to see one in person before committing.

Same-Day Pickup or Fast Sydney Delivery

Order online before close and pickup the same day from Wetherill Park, or get it delivered fast across Sydney metro. No waiting weeks for a courier from interstate. Have it lit and cooking on the weekend.

Authorised Stockist — Lifetime Warranty Honoured

Buy with confidence. Your Pyralit lifetime warranty is fully valid through us. We are a real Australian retailer with a registered ABN, not a marketplace reseller.

Specialty BBQ Advice, Not Just a Sale

We have been cooking on charcoal since 2014 and stock the lump and accessories that pair with the Pyralit. Get a straight answer on what charcoal works best for your kettle, kamado, or offset.

One Cart, the Whole Setup

Bundle your Pyralit with charcoal, accessories, and the kamado or kettle to use it on. One delivery, one shop. The brand sells the Pyralit only — we sell everything around it.

The Honest Answer

Why Does the Pyralit Cost More Than a Chimney Starter?

Fair question. A standard chimney starter is around $40. The Pyralit Hero Ignition Unit is $259. Here is the straight answer on the difference.

The Pyralit Is Not a Chimney Starter. It Is a Lifetime Tool.

Once you understand what you are actually buying, the price changes shape.

Lifetime warranty on a sealed price

A typical chimney starter rusts out, the welds fail, the handle melts, the base burns through. You replace it every two or three seasons. The Pyralit comes with a lifetime warranty. Buy once, use forever.

316 marine-grade stainless steel

Cheap chimneys are made from coated mild steel that warps under heat and rusts as soon as it gets wet. The Pyralit is built from 316 marine-grade stainless, the same alloy used on boats. No coatings to burn off, no fumes, no rust. Leave it outside in the rain. It will not care.

Australian-made, supporting local manufacturing

The Pyralit is designed and built in Australia. The cheap chimney is mass-produced offshore. Every dollar you spend on the Pyralit stays in the country and supports a small Australian brand doing things properly.

Lit and ready in under 10 minutes

The engineered airflow design lights charcoal in under 10 minutes, with no kerosene, no electric blowers, no stuffing around. Cleaner light, faster start, and you are cooking before the second beer is open.

Buy a $40 chimney starter and you will buy three of them in a decade. That is $120 spent, plus the rust stains on your deck, plus the frustration when the handle gives way at the wrong moment. Buy a Pyralit once and you have something built like a piece of marine equipment, made locally, that will outlast every BBQ you own. Per cook, over a lifetime, it is the cheapest fire starter you will ever buy.

Common Questions

Pyralit FAQs

Everything buyers ask us before purchasing. If your question is not here, call us or visit the showroom.

Where can I buy a Pyralit in Sydney?
BBQ Republic stocks the full Pyralit range at our Wetherill Park showroom in Sydney. We are an authorised stockist with same-day pickup, fast Sydney metro delivery, and a lifetime warranty on every unit. Visit us at 5 Vicars Place, Wetherill Park, or order online.
How long does the Pyralit take to light charcoal?
Under 10 minutes from cold. The engineered airflow design pulls air through the charcoal stack to ignite a full load fast, without lighter fluid, electric blowers, or chimney-style fiddling. From striking the firestarter to ready-to-cook coals, you are looking at 8 to 10 minutes for most lump or briquette charcoal.
What charcoal works best with the Pyralit?
The Pyralit is designed for any natural lump charcoal or briquette. It works particularly well with high-quality lump (we recommend Argie Grillz Argentinian quebracho) or premium briquettes for kamado cooks. Avoid match-light or pre-soaked charcoal as the Pyralit lights too cleanly to need it.
Does the Pyralit come with a warranty?
Yes. Every Pyralit Hero Ignition Unit, Poker, Lifter, Catch Plate, and Thermometer comes with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer. Your warranty is valid through any authorised Australian stockist including BBQ Republic. Keep your purchase receipt for any future claim.
Can I see the Pyralit before I buy?
Yes. Our Wetherill Park showroom has the Pyralit range on display. Pick it up, see the build quality, ask questions, and walk out with one the same day. Open Monday and Wednesday to Friday 10am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 2pm. Closed Tuesday and Sunday. Pyralit is sold online-only direct from the brand, so visiting us is the only way to handle one before committing.
How is the Pyralit different to a standard chimney starter?
A standard chimney starter is a coated mild-steel cylinder with a wire grate. They light charcoal but rust out, warp, and need replacing every couple of seasons. The Pyralit is built from 316 marine-grade stainless steel with engineered airflow. It lights faster, lasts a lifetime, has no coatings to burn off or fumes to release, and can be left outside in any weather.
Do you deliver Pyralit across Sydney?
Yes. BBQ Republic offers fast Sydney metro delivery on all Pyralit products, plus same-day pickup from our Wetherill Park showroom for orders placed during business hours. We dispatch quickly so you can be cooking on the weekend.
Can I use the Pyralit with my Big Green Egg or other kamado?
Yes. The Pyralit works with any charcoal cooker including kamados (Big Green Egg, Kamado Joe), kettles, drum smokers, offsets, and open fires. Light your charcoal in the Pyralit, then transfer the lit coals into your cooker using the Pyralit Poker and Lifter. The Catch Plate protects your surfaces during transfer.
