    What Sets It Apart

Why the 690 BI Is the Flagship

What separates the 690 BI from the 590 BI is not just one additional burner. The 690 BI uses two completely independent cookboxes rather than one. This is not a single cooking chamber divided by a deflector. The two cookboxes are genuinely separate, each with its own lid, its own burners, and its own thermal environment.

The practical result is genuine independent zone control. Sear at full heat in one cookbox while the other holds a steady roasting temperature. Rest cooked proteins in one while finishing the next batch in the other. Run one entirely while the other sits off. For a permanent outdoor kitchen installation that will handle serious entertaining, the dual cookbox configuration changes what is possible on a gas grill.

For builders and designers speccing an outdoor kitchen, the Imperial QS 690 BI is the logical choice for a large island build where the grill is the primary cooking station. BBQ Republic is an authorised Broil King dealer and the Imperial range is on display at our Wetherill Park showroom.

For a large outdoor kitchen island where the grill is the primary cooking station, the 690 BI is the right choice. If your build has space constraints or you are cooking for smaller groups, the 590 BI delivers the same cooking technology in a more compact configuration. Visit our Wetherill Park showroom to see both models and discuss which suits your build dimensions and cooking requirements.

    Cooking Technology

    Built-In Engineering

    Six Dual-Tube Burners

Patented design carries two parallel flame channels per burner rather than one. Broader, more consistent heat spread. 60,000 BTU combined output across the main cooking surface.

    Two Separate Cookboxes

Genuinely independent thermal environments side by side. Each with its own lid, burners, and temperature. True dual-zone cooking without thermal bleed-through.

    Flav-R-Wave Vaporisation

304 stainless panels intercept dripping fat before it reaches the burners. Drippings vaporise into flavour smoke instead of flare-ups, closing the gap between gas and charcoal.

    iQue Wi-Fi & Bluetooth

Monitor temps and control both cookboxes via the Broil King app. Two electronic meat probes. Smart-Touch presets for smoke, roast, and grill modes built into the panel.

    15,000 BTU Rotisserie

Rear-mounted stainless burner heats from behind the spit. Whole chickens, rolled roasts, and lamb legs cook with self-basting rotation. Premium kit included as standard.

    13,000 BTU Side Burner

Top-ported design directs flame upward for efficient pot and pan heat transfer. Independent operation. Boil, sauce, or cook sides while main cookboxes run at full capacity.

    Cast Stainless Steel Grids

Professional cast grids retain heat better than stamped alternatives. Hold temperature when cold food contacts them. Built for high-heat searing in a permanent installation.

    Built-In Lighting

Cookbox lighting and illuminated control knobs as standard. Clear visibility of cooking surface and controls during evening or low-light cooking sessions.

    Designed To Pair

    Complete Your Cooking Setup

The Imperial QS 690 BI handles every cut from a steak sear to a low-and-slow roast. To work confidently across that range, an instant-read thermometer is the single most useful addition. The Pyralit Instant Read Thermometer delivers ±0.5°C accuracy in 2 to 3 seconds, ideal for verifying doneness across multiple proteins running simultaneously in the dual cookboxes.

    Common Questions

    Imperial QS 690 BI FAQs

Questions we get asked most before purchase. Not covered here? Call us or visit the showroom.

Is BBQ Republic an authorised Broil King dealer?
Yes. BBQ Republic is an authorised Broil King dealer. Purchasing through an authorised dealer ensures your 15-year warranty is valid, gives you access to genuine Broil King replacement parts, and provides direct after-sales support. Buying from a non-authorised reseller can void warranty coverage on premium gas grills.
What is the difference between the Imperial QS 690 BI and 590 BI?
The 690 BI has six burners producing 60,000 BTU and 750 sq-in of primary cooking area across two completely separate cookboxes. The 590 BI has five burners producing 55,000 BTU and 625 sq-in in a single cookbox configuration. Both share the same cooking technology, smart control, and 15-year warranty. The dual cookbox design of the 690 BI is the defining difference for buyers who need genuine independent temperature zones within the same grill.
What is the difference between the Imperial and Regal ranges?
The Regal range is freestanding on a cart and designed as a standalone grill. The Imperial range is a built-in configuration designed to integrate permanently into an outdoor kitchen island. Both ranges share Broil King's core cooking technology including Dual-Tube burners, Flav-R-Wave vaporisation, and iQue smart control. The Imperial adds 304 stainless steel cabinet construction and built-in cookbox lighting as standard.
Does BBQ Republic install the Imperial range?
No. The Imperial range is a built-in product requiring integration into an outdoor kitchen island and gas connection by a licensed tradesperson. BBQ Republic offers free delivery across Sydney and can advise on installation requirements to help you prepare for your build. We do not provide installation directly, but we can walk you through what your installer will need on site.
Does the Imperial QS 690 BI come with the rotisserie kit?
Yes. The premium rotisserie kit is included with the grill as standard. The 15,000 BTU rear rotisserie burner is fitted as part of the build and the kit is supplied for immediate use after installation.
What is iQue and how does it work?
iQue is Broil King's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth smart control system. It connects to the Broil King Grilling App on your phone and lets you monitor and adjust grill temperatures, access preset cooking modes, and receive alerts during a cook. Two electronic meat probes connect to the system to monitor internal food temperature alongside grill temperature. A push-button digital controller on the grill panel provides direct access to all functions without needing your phone.
Does the Imperial QS 690 BI use LPG or natural gas?
The grill is supplied configured for LPG. Natural gas conversion is available on request. Contact us before placing your order if you need a natural gas configuration so we can confirm timeline and parts.
What does the 15-year warranty cover?
The 15-year warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and maintenance. It does not cover damage from improper use, neglect, failure to follow maintenance guidelines, use of non-genuine replacement parts, or normal wear items such as cooking grids and igniters over time. We recommend registering your grill with Broil King at the time of purchase to activate your warranty coverage.
Is the Imperial QS 690 BI on display at your showroom?
Yes. The Imperial QS 690 BI is on display at our Wetherill Park showroom in Sydney. If you are in the planning stages of an outdoor kitchen build, coming in to see the Imperial range in person is a useful early step. Our team can walk you through the cabinet dimensions, the dual cookbox configuration, and the iQue smart control before you commit to a specification. Open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm.
    Found it cheaper elsewhere?
Contact us. We will beat any genuine Australian price on the Broil King Imperial QS 690 BI. The "genuine Australian" qualifier matters at this price point because some grey-import resellers offer apparently lower prices on units that may not be configured for Australian gas certification or covered by the 15-year warranty in this market. We will price-match against legitimate authorised Australian dealers.
