Why the 690 BI Is the Flagship
What separates the 690 BI from the 590 BI is not just one additional burner. The 690 BI uses two completely independent cookboxes rather than one. This is not a single cooking chamber divided by a deflector. The two cookboxes are genuinely separate, each with its own lid, its own burners, and its own thermal environment.
The practical result is genuine independent zone control. Sear at full heat in one cookbox while the other holds a steady roasting temperature. Rest cooked proteins in one while finishing the next batch in the other. Run one entirely while the other sits off. For a permanent outdoor kitchen installation that will handle serious entertaining, the dual cookbox configuration changes what is possible on a gas grill.

If your build has space constraints or you are cooking for smaller groups, the 590 BI delivers the same cooking technology in a more compact configuration. Cooking TechnologyBuilt-In Engineering
Six Dual-Tube Burners
Patented design carries two parallel flame channels per burner rather than one. Broader, more consistent heat spread. 60,000 BTU combined output across the main cooking surface.
Two Separate Cookboxes
Genuinely independent thermal environments side by side. Each with its own lid, burners, and temperature. True dual-zone cooking without thermal bleed-through.
Flav-R-Wave Vaporisation
304 stainless panels intercept dripping fat before it reaches the burners. Drippings vaporise into flavour smoke instead of flare-ups, closing the gap between gas and charcoal.
iQue Wi-Fi & Bluetooth
Monitor temps and control both cookboxes via the Broil King app. Two electronic meat probes. Smart-Touch presets for smoke, roast, and grill modes built into the panel.
15,000 BTU Rotisserie
Rear-mounted stainless burner heats from behind the spit. Whole chickens, rolled roasts, and lamb legs cook with self-basting rotation. Premium kit included as standard.
13,000 BTU Side Burner
Top-ported design directs flame upward for efficient pot and pan heat transfer. Independent operation. Boil, sauce, or cook sides while main cookboxes run at full capacity.
Cast Stainless Steel Grids
Professional cast grids retain heat better than stamped alternatives. Hold temperature when cold food contacts them. Built for high-heat searing in a permanent installation.
Built-In Lighting
Cookbox lighting and illuminated control knobs as standard. Clear visibility of cooking surface and controls during evening or low-light cooking sessions.
Complete Your Cooking Setup
The Imperial QS 690 BI handles every cut from a steak sear to a low-and-slow roast. To work confidently across that range, an instant-read thermometer is the single most useful addition. The Pyralit Instant Read Thermometer delivers ±0.5°C accuracy in 2 to 3 seconds, ideal for verifying doneness across multiple proteins running simultaneously in the dual cookboxes.
