You've figured out your size. Now comes the part that trips almost everyone up. Big Green Egg bundles come in multiple configurations and the naming doesn't always make it obvious what you're actually getting. Built-In, Nest, Acacia Table, Modular. What's the difference? Which one do you need? And is the cheapest option actually the right one for your setup?
Nine years of cooking on these things and selling them across Sydney will teach you a lot about where buyers get stuck. Configuration is almost always it. This guide covers every bundle we stock, with current prices and honest advice on what actually suits who.
Haven't locked in a size yet? Our Big Green Egg Size Guide covers that first. Come back here once you know what you're buying.

The Short Answer: Which Configuration Should You Buy?
Don't want to read the whole article? Here's how we usually frame it in the showroom:
- Planning to drop the Egg into an existing outdoor kitchen? The Built-In is the right starting point. It's the most affordable entry point at every size and designed specifically for that setup.
- Setting up on a deck or patio? Go with the Nest. We deliver and set it up for you. It's what we recommend for most first-time buyers, including the configuration our own Large sits on.
- Want a self-contained outdoor station? The Acacia Table or Modular gives you a proper setup without needing anything built.
- MiniMax on a balcony? The Carrier Bundle if space is tight, the Portable Bundle if you want a proper stand with side shelves.

What Are the Big Green Egg Configuration Options?
When you buy a BGE bundle, the Egg is the same regardless of which setup you choose. What changes is the stand, mount, or table it comes with. There are five configuration types available across our range.
| Configuration | What it is | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Built-In | Egg + Table Nest for permanent installation | Existing outdoor kitchens |
| Nest | Egg on freestanding steel nest with Handler | Most buyers, first BGE |
| Acacia Table | Egg set into solid Acacia hardwood table | Self-contained outdoor station |
| Modular | Steel modular nest system (3 options) | Expandable outdoor station |
| Portable | Carrier frame or folding stand with shelves | Balconies, tight spaces |
Big Green Egg Built-In Bundle: What You're Actually Getting
The Built-In is designed for people who already have an outdoor kitchen, island bench, or stone benchtop and want the Egg sitting flush within it. It's the most affordable entry point because you're not paying for a freestanding stand.
The Table Nest is the component that makes a built-in installation possible. It sits inside the cutout in your bench, supports the weight of the Egg, and creates the airflow underneath that the ceramic needs. Big Green Egg is clear that you cannot place an Egg directly into a countertop without it.
Every Built-In bundle also includes a convEGGtor, a Grid Gripper, Ash Tool, a bag of Natural Lump Charcoal, and SpeediLight fire starters. You're set up to cook from day one.
What we tell buyers considering a Built-In: this is the right configuration if you have an existing outdoor kitchen with a suitable opening ready to go. When we deliver, we install the Egg directly into the space and make sure everything is set up correctly before we leave.

Large Built-In Bundle

XL Built-In Bundle

2XL Built-In Bundle

The Built-In is the most affordable way into a Big Green Egg at every size. If you have an outdoor kitchen to put it in, it's the right starting point. If you're setting up on a deck or patio, keep reading.
Big Green Egg Nest Bundle: Why We Recommend This for Most Buyers
The Nest bundle is the most popular configuration we sell, and the one we recommend for most first-time BGE buyers. It puts the Egg on a freestanding steel nest stand with the intEGGrated Handler, and you're ready to cook wherever you set it up.
The Handler is a wheeled stand with a handle at the back. It lets you roll the Egg around when it's completely cold, which is useful for repositioning on a deck or moving it into a garage during extended periods of not using it. It's not something you use mid-cook. It's just good to have when you need it.
One thing worth knowing: the Nest is also compatible with eggMates, which are folding side table attachments that clip on and give you prep space alongside the Egg. They're sold separately, but if you find yourself wanting a bit of workspace without committing to a full Table or Modular setup, they're a practical addition.
Our own Large Big Green Egg sits on a Nest at home. We haven't felt the need to upgrade to anything else because the Nest does exactly what you need it to do. It's solid, it's stable at 73kg of Egg, and it looks clean on a deck or patio.
One thing the Nest doesn't give you is prep space. There's nowhere to rest a plate or put down tongs while you're cooking. That's the main reason buyers upgrade to a Table or Modular setup. If you're someone who tends to use a side table anyway, the Nest bundle is perfectly fine. If you want everything in one station, look at the Acacia Table or Modular options.
Medium Nest Bundle
$2,400
Large Nest Bundle
$2,900
XL Nest Bundle
$3,900
2XL Nest Bundle
$6,600
The Nest Bundle is typically our first recommendation for anyone setting up on a deck or patio and wanting to get straight into cooking.

Big Green Egg Acacia Table Bundle: A Proper Outdoor Station
The Acacia Table bundle puts the Egg into the centre of a solid Acacia hardwood table, with prep space running along each side. It's a self-contained outdoor cooking station in one purchase.
A lot of buyers who move from a Nest setup to a Table setup say the same thing: they didn't realise how much they were missing having a surface right there. Our own XL sits in an Acacia Table at home and the workspace alongside it gets used every cook.
Acacia holds up well outdoors but it does need some care. Oil it a couple of times a year and keep a cover on it when you're not cooking. From our own experience with the XL Table at home, fading is the thing to manage over time rather than cracking. It's not high maintenance, but it's not zero maintenance either.
The Acacia Table takes up more deck space than a Nest. It's deeper and wider. If you're working with a tight courtyard or balcony, that matters. Measure before you commit.

XL Acacia Table Bundle
$4,800
Big Green Egg Modular Bundles: When You Want More Than a Stand
The Modular configurations use BGE's steel modular nest system instead of a timber table. If the Acacia Table is a workbench, the Modular system is more of an outdoor kitchen frame. Steel construction, clean look, and the ability to add to it over time. We stock three Modular options for the Large and XL.
The Modular Bundle is the base configuration. The Egg sits on the modular nest with the framework around it. Close in price to the Acacia Table, and a good choice if you prefer steel over timber or want the option to expand later.
The Modular Expansion Bundle adds additional frame sections and shelf space. More surface area, more storage, more of a proper outdoor station. If you're planning to run this as your main outdoor cooking setup rather than just a grill stand, this is worth looking at.
The Modular Corner Bundle creates an L-shaped setup. It's the most substantial freestanding option we sell, and it gives you the most workspace of any configuration outside of a full built-in outdoor kitchen. If you're serious about your outdoor setup and you have the space, this is a considered choice.

MiniMax Bundles: Portable Without Sacrificing Performance
The MiniMax is different from the rest of the range in how it's set up. At that size, the Egg comes with a metal carrier frame that is custom fitted to the body of the EGG and not designed to be removed. It's what you grip to carry it, and it's part of what makes the MiniMax genuinely portable in a way the larger sizes aren't.
The MiniMax Carrier Bundle at $1,500 is the EGG itself with that built-in carrier frame. If you've got a small courtyard, a balcony, or you want a second Egg for quick weeknight cooks, this is the starting point.
The MiniMax Portable Bundle at $2,000 adds a dedicated folding stand with side shelves. It turns the MiniMax into a proper small cooking station. The shelves fold flat, so it's still movable, but when it's set up you've got a bit of workspace alongside the Egg.
If you're putting the MiniMax somewhere permanent and cooking on it regularly, the extra $500 for the stand is worth it. If you're buying it as a travel grill or a second EGG that moves around, the Carrier Bundle is enough.

What's Included in Every Bundle
This is one of the things that catches buyers out when comparing BGE bundles across different dealers. Some dealers sell the Egg with just the stand. Our Built-In and Nest bundles include everything you need to actually cook from day one:
- The Big Green Egg
- The relevant mount or stand (Table Nest for built-in, intEGGrated Nest and Handler for Nest bundles)
- convEGGtor (ceramic heat deflector for indirect cooking)
- Grid Gripper and Ash Tool
- Natural Lump Charcoal (one bag)
- SpeediLight natural fire starters
The convEGGtor is worth flagging specifically. It's what unlocks indirect cooking on the Egg. Without it you're limited to direct grilling. With it, you can smoke low and slow, roast whole chickens, bake pizza, all of it. It's included in our bundles by default because there's no point having a Big Green Egg and not being able to use it properly from day one.
Which Configuration Is Actually Right for You?
Do you have an existing outdoor kitchen to drop the Egg into? Start with the Built-In. It's the most affordable entry at every size and designed for exactly that setup. If you're not sure whether your existing opening is compatible, give us a call before you order.
Setting up on a deck or patio? The Nest bundle is the practical choice. We deliver and assemble everything on site, so you're ready to cook on the day we arrive. The Large Nest Bundle at $2,900 is the most common first purchase we make.
Do you want a proper outdoor station without committing to a built-in? The Acacia Table gives you workspace either side of the Egg in a self-contained setup. The Modular configurations give you steel construction and the ability to expand. Both are solid choices. The main question is whether you prefer timber or steel, and how much space you have.
Cooking for large groups or planning a feature outdoor kitchen? The Modular Corner Bundle for the XL is worth a look. It's a serious setup, and if the outdoor space and budget are there it's a long-term investment that holds its value well.
MiniMax and not sure which bundle? Think about how you'll actually use it. If it's mostly sitting in one spot, the Portable Bundle with the stand is worth the extra. If it's genuinely moving around, the Carrier Bundle is enough.
Free Delivery and Installation Across Sydney
Every bundle we sell includes free delivery and installation across Sydney. We're not dropping it at the kerb. We set it up at your property, make sure everything is running correctly, and walk you through the basics before we leave.
For Built-In configurations, we fit the Egg into your existing outdoor kitchen opening on delivery. If you're not sure whether your setup is ready for it, give us a call before you order and we can talk through what's needed.
This is part of what buying from a Platinum Dealer actually means. The warranty is valid, the installation is done properly, and there's someone to call if something comes up after the purchase.
