How spicy is Atomic Chicken Peri Peri?

Atomic Chicken Peri Peri sits at medium to high heat, in the same ballpark as a Nando's hot or extra hot order. Built around real bird's eye chillies (the proper Portuguese-style peri peri pepper), with garlic, citrus, and herb notes layered behind the heat.

For lighter heat tolerance, mix the rub with oil and lemon juice as a marinade rather than a dry rub. The dilution mellows the heat while keeping the flavour. For full heat, apply dry under the skin 30 minutes to 2 hours before grilling.

How much Atomic Chicken rub should I use on chicken?

For Charcoal Chicken, Peri Peri, and Jamaican Jerk: about 1 tablespoon per kilo of chicken is the starting point. With chicken specifically you want lighter application than with beef or pork, the skin can taste raw and pasty if the layer is too thick.

For Chicken Salt: apply as a finishing sprinkle after cooking, not a pre-cook rub. The salt and herbs hit best when they land on hot crispy chicken straight off the heat or onto hot chips.

Apply rubs under the skin where possible for the best flavour penetration. For whole birds, lift the breast skin gently and rub directly onto the meat.

Can I use Atomic Chicken rubs on other meats?
