Traeger Pellets.
The Original Wood Pellet Grill Brand.
Traeger is the original wood pellet grill brand. Joe Traeger built the first pellet grill prototype in Mt. Angel, Oregon in 1985 and patented the design a year later, inventing the category every pellet smoker on the market is built on today. We stock the full Traeger pellet fuel range: four single-species pellets (Cherry, Hickory, Apple, Pecan) plus the Signature Blend and Oak & Whiskey Blend, all in 9kg bags. All-natural hardwood, no fillers, no binders, manufactured at Traeger-owned mills in the United States. In stock at our Wetherill Park showroom in Sydney.
Meet the Full Traeger Pellet Range
Traeger's range is built on a different idea to a six-wood competition mix: four pure single-species pellets for precise control, plus two curated blends for cooks who want a proven all-rounder in the bag. Here is what each pellet delivers and what to reach for it for.
Cherry
MildSlightly sweet, slightly tart smoke with a deep mahogany colour effect on skin and bark that no other wood in the range matches.
Whole chicken, pork ribs, and any cook where colour matters as much as flavour.
Apple
MildSweet, fruity, mellow. The lightest smoke in the range, built to lift pork and poultry without overpowering.
Pork ribs, chicken, fish, and first-time pellet smoker owners.
Pecan
MediumNutty, slightly sweet, rounded. A softer hickory with a buttery edge and no sharp bite.
Pork shoulder, ribs, poultry, and vegetables.
Hickory
BoldStrong, bacon-like, classic American BBQ smoke. The flavour most people picture when they say "smoked".
Brisket, pork shoulder, beef ribs, and bacon.
Signature Blend
MediumHickory, maple, and cherry combined into one forgiving, balanced pellet built for everyday use.
New pellet smoker owners and mixed-protein cooks who want one bag that works on everything.
Oak & Whiskey Blend
MediumReal used whiskey barrel staves blended with oak. Deep, sweet, full-bodied smoke with genuine vanilla and caramel character, not artificial flavouring.
Brisket, pork ribs, beef ribs, whole chicken, and smoked cheese.
Single-species precision, curated blends for everything else
Traeger's four single-species pellets let you choose an exact wood for an exact cook, the same way the brand that invented the pellet grill has always approached fuel. The Signature Blend and Oak & Whiskey Blend then cover the cooks where a proven combination beats picking one wood, from everyday dinners to a bag with genuine whiskey barrel character.

Questions About Traeger Pellets
What buyers ask before committing to Traeger, whether you are choosing a single-species pellet for precision or the Signature or Oak & Whiskey blend for an easy all-rounder.
Are Traeger pellets any good?
Traeger is the original wood pellet grill brand. Joe Traeger built the first pellet grill prototype in Mt. Angel, Oregon in 1985 and patented the design in 1986, inventing the category every pellet smoker on the market is built on today. Every pellet is made from 100% natural hardwood with no fillers, no binders, and no artificial additives, the same production standard across both the single-species pellets and the blends.
The four single-species pellets (Cherry, Hickory, Apple, Pecan) give precise control over one wood at a time. The Signature Blend and Oak & Whiskey Blend are curated combinations for cooks who want a proven, forgiving pellet in the bag. Both approaches use the same hardwood quality standard that built Traeger's reputation.
What is in the Traeger Signature Blend?
Signature Blend combines hickory, maple, and cherry. The blend is formulated to deliver a balanced, forgiving everyday smoke from a single bag, with hickory carrying the classic BBQ backbone, maple smoothing the profile with subtle sweetness, and cherry adding a fruity note plus the colour development cherry is known for.
It is Traeger's answer to "what pellet should I use if I am not sure". The three woods are balanced so no single note dominates, which is why it is the pellet most commonly recommended to first-time pellet smoker owners.
What is Traeger Signature Blend best for cooking?
Signature Blend is designed as an all-rounder for mixed-protein cooking sessions. It performs well across chicken, pork, beef, and vegetables without requiring you to switch pellets between cuts, which is exactly what most home cooks want from a single bag.
It suits weekend cooks where you might run chicken thighs, a pork shoulder, and grilled vegetables across the same session. Single-species pellets give you more precise control over an individual cut, but Signature Blend gives you one bag that reliably works for almost everything. For a cook where you want a specific wood character, such as bold hickory on brisket or cherry colour on chicken skin, a single species is the better pick.
Should I buy a single-species Traeger pellet or one of the blends?
It depends on how much control you want over the smoke profile versus how much you want a proven combination already worked out for you. All six Traeger SKUs are 9kg bags for the pellet smoker hopper, so the choice is about flavour, not format.
Single-species pellets (Cherry, Hickory, Apple, Pecan) let you match one wood precisely to one cook: Hickory for brisket and pork shoulder, Cherry for colour and mild sweetness on chicken and ribs, Apple for the mildest, most forgiving smoke, Pecan as a softer, nuttier alternative to hickory.
Signature Blend (hickory, maple, cherry) is the easy everyday choice when you are cooking a mix of proteins and do not want to think about which wood to use. Oak & Whiskey Blend (oak plus real used whiskey barrel staves) is for cooks who want a genuinely different, deeper, sweeter smoke profile with authentic barrel character, not artificial flavouring.
Many pellet smoker owners keep a bag of Hickory for serious cooks and a bag of Signature Blend on hand for everything else.
Are Traeger pellets made in the USA?
Yes. Traeger pellets are manufactured at Traeger-owned mills across multiple US states, including Oregon, the state where Joe Traeger built the original pellet grill, and imported through the authorised Australian distribution channel. The brand sources food-grade hardwood domestically for its single-species pellets and blends.
The bag we sell at our Sydney showroom is the same product sold through Traeger's own US retail network. We are an authorised Australian dealer for the brand, so every bag is current-batch genuine product, never grey-import or aftermarket.
Do you deliver Traeger pellets across Sydney and Australia?
Yes, with two delivery tiers. Across the Sydney metro area we offer same-day or next-business-day delivery depending on your suburb. Orders dispatch from our Wetherill Park showroom in Sydney's west.
For the rest of Australia, Traeger pellets ship through our standard parcel service. Pickup is also available any business day if you would rather skip delivery. Pellets are heavy when bought in bulk, the showroom is set up for car loading, and pickup is the fastest way to get multiple bags home. Call 0434 010 411 to confirm timing for your suburb.
