Australia's Largest Yoder Showroom

Pellet Smokers

Pellet smokers are the answer to a single question: how do you get authentic wood-fired flavour without standing over the cooker for 18 hours? Set the temperature, load the hopper, walk away. The smoker holds your temperature digitally and delivers smoke that gas simply cannot match.

Our pellet range is led by Yoder Smokers, the heavy-gauge American workhorse used in competition BBQ around the world. We have been cooking on Yoders since 2014 and run Australia's largest Yoder showroom out of Wetherill Park. Green Mountain Grills covers the WiFi-enabled entry to premium pellet, and Nexgrill rounds out the value tier.

Why Pellet

Wood Fired Flavour, Without the Babysitting

A pellet smoker gives you authentic wood-fired smoke with the convenience of digital temperature control. The closest thing to set-and-forget BBQ that still delivers serious results.

Authentic Wood Smoke

Pellets are 100% compressed hardwood. As they burn, real smoke flavour infuses the food. Gas cannot replicate this. Charcoal alone cannot either.

Set and Forget Temperature

Dial in 110 degrees for low-and-slow brisket, or 230 for ribs. The smoker holds the temperature digitally for as long as the hopper has pellets. Sleep through an overnight cook.

True Versatility

Low and slow for brisket, ribs, pulled pork. Hot and fast for steaks, chicken, vegetables. One unit, every cooking style, from 90 to 300 degrees Celsius.

WiFi and App Control

Green Mountain Grills and select Yoder models connect to your phone. Monitor and adjust temperature from anywhere. Set alerts when a probe hits target.

Pellet Smoker FAQs

Common Questions

The questions we get asked most often about pellet smokers. Cannot find what you need? Call or message us.

What is a pellet smoker and how does it work?
A pellet smoker burns compressed hardwood pellets that are auto-fed from a hopper into a fire pot by an electric auger. A fan and controller manage airflow to hold a precise temperature, anywhere from 90 to 300 degrees Celsius. You set the temperature on a digital controller, the smoker does the rest. The pellets burn down to produce real wood smoke that flavours the food while it cooks.
Are pellet smokers worth it?
Yes, if you want wood-fired flavour without the time commitment of stick-burning. Pellet smokers deliver the smoke of charcoal with the set-and-forget convenience of gas. You can sleep through an overnight brisket cook or run a 90 minute steak sear, all on the same unit. We unpack the full comparison in our Are Pellet Smokers Worth It? guide.
What is the best pellet smoker in Australia?
It depends on how you cook. For the buyer who wants a smoker that will outlast their kitchen, the Yoder YS640s is the most respected pellet smoker in Australia, used in competition BBQ globally. For the tech-forward buyer who wants WiFi and app control, the Green Mountain Grills range covers portable to entertainer sizes. For value entry, the Nexgrill Oakford range delivers real cooking quality at honest prices.
How much do pellet smokers cost?
Entry-level WiFi pellet smokers like the Green Mountain Grills Trek Prime 2.0 start at $1,399. The Nexgrill Oakford range runs $1,599 and up. Mid-range serious cooking units like the Yoder YS480s start around $4,099. Premium and flagship Yoder models like the YS640s Competition and YS1500s run $8,000 to $11,000+. Cost reflects build quality, hopper capacity, and how long the unit is engineered to last.
Yoder vs Green Mountain Grills: which should I buy?
Yoder is heavy-gauge American steel built for competition BBQ and decades of use. Cost more, weigh more, last longer, repairable forever. Green Mountain Grills is lighter, lower-cost, WiFi-enabled across the range, and the strongest in mid-market features per dollar. Yoder is the right call if a 20 year lifespan matters. GMG is the right call if WiFi convenience and value matter more. Both are excellent at what they do.
What pellets should I use in a pellet smoker?
100% hardwood pellets, no fillers, no flavour blends from softwood. Hickory and oak are the most versatile. Apple and cherry are best for poultry and pork. Mesquite is intense, best used sparingly. We stock the full BBQr's Delight range and a wider selection of wood pellets across flavour profiles. Avoid generic heating pellets sold for indoor stoves: they are softwood and produce off-flavours.
How long does a hopper of pellets last?
Depends on the unit and the cook temperature. At low and slow temperatures (110 to 135 degrees), a 20-pound hopper typically lasts 15 to 20 hours. At hotter temperatures (200 to 250 degrees), expect 8 to 12 hours. Yoder hoppers run on the larger side, suited to long overnight brisket cooks. The Trek Prime 2.0 has a smaller hopper sized for shorter cooks.
Do you deliver and install pellet smokers in Sydney?
Yes. We personally deliver and install every Yoder, Green Mountain Grills and Nexgrill pellet smoker free across the Sydney metro. Installation includes positioning, setup, first-run guidance and a walkthrough of the controller. NSW-wide delivery is quoted at checkout. Pellets, rubs and accessories ship Australia wide.
