Why Nexgrill

American Pellet Smoker Heritage, Built for Australian Backyards

A pellet smoker is the easiest way to add genuine hardwood smoke flavour to your cooking. Set the temperature, load the pellets, walk away. Here is what makes the Nexgrill Oakford range the pellet smoker we recommend to first-time smoker buyers.

WiFi App Control

Set the temperature, monitor the cook, and get done-temperature alerts from your phone. Built-in WiFi connectivity on every Oakford means you are not chained to the smoker for a 12-hour brisket.

Real Hardwood Smoke Flavour

Hardwood pellet fuel produces genuine wood smoke, not gas with added smoke flavouring. The result is the deep, layered flavour profile that only comes from real wood combustion across a long cook.

Low and Slow to High-Heat Sear

The Oakford range runs from 80 degrees Celsius for low-temperature smoking through to high-heat searing well above 260 degrees. One cooker covers brisket, pork shoulder, ribs, pizza, and weeknight grilling.

Free Sydney Delivery and Installation

Every Nexgrill Oakford pellet smoker delivered and installed free across the Sydney metro area. We unbox, position, and verify the WiFi pairing so you are ready to cook on day one.

First Time Buyer Guide

How a Pellet Smoker Works

A pellet smoker is the easiest entry into smoking and slow-cooked BBQ. The process is automated, the fuel is real hardwood, and the result is the kind of smoke flavour you cannot fake. Here is what happens inside the cooker, in four steps.

1

Load the Hopper

Fill the hopper with hardwood pellets. Different woods (hickory, apple, mesquite, oak) deliver different flavour profiles. The Oakford 1125 Pro hopper holds 14.55 kg of pellets, enough for an extended low-and-slow cook without refilling.

2

The Auger Feeds the Burn Pot

Set the temperature on the controller or the WiFi app. An electric auger delivers a measured rate of pellets into the burn pot at the base of the smoker, matching the rate to the target temperature.

3

Pellets Ignite, Fan Controls Heat

A hot rod ignites the pellets in the burn pot. A built-in convection fan circulates hot air and wood smoke through the cooking chamber. The controller adjusts pellet feed rate and fan speed to hold the target temperature within a few degrees.

4

Smoke and Heat Cook the Food

Real hardwood smoke and convection heat circulate around the food on the cooking grates. The Oakford 1125 Pro runs from 74 degrees Celsius for low-temperature smoking through to high-heat searing at 287 degrees, so one cooker handles brisket, ribs, pork shoulder, pizza, and weeknight grilling.

Why Buyers Choose Pellet

Real Wood Flavour, Without the Babysitting

A pellet smoker delivers genuine wood smoke flavour without the constant temperature management of a charcoal offset, and without the gas-with-fake-smoke compromise of a gas smoker. It is the easiest way to cook proper low-and-slow BBQ at home, full stop.

Nexgrill Pellet Smoker FAQs

The Questions Pellet Smoker Buyers Actually Ask

The questions we field most often from buyers shopping for a Nexgrill Oakford pellet smoker in Australia.

What is a pellet smoker and how does it work?

A pellet smoker is an outdoor cooker that burns hardwood pellets as its fuel source to generate both heat and real wood smoke. You set the temperature on the controller or via WiFi, and an electric auger automatically feeds pellets from the hopper into a burn pot at the rate needed to hold that temperature.

Pellet smokers cover the full cooking range from low-and-slow smoking at 74 degrees Celsius through to high-heat searing at 287 degrees on the Oakford 1125 Pro. The result is genuine hardwood smoke flavour with the convenience of set-and-forget temperature control.

Which Nexgrill Oakford pellet smoker is best for me?

The Oakford 715 at $1,050 is the entry-level pick. Good for couples and small families cooking for four to six people at a time. The Oakford 875 Pro at $1,350 adds more cooking area and is the sweet-spot pick for regular weekend cookers who entertain six to ten people. The Oakford 1125 Pro at $1,650 is the flagship with 7,445 sq cm of total cooking area, suited to serious entertainers and competition-style cooks.

Come into the Wetherill Park showroom and stand next to all three. Scale is the single hardest thing to judge from product photos, and the right size choice usually becomes obvious in person.

Pellet smoker vs charcoal smoker vs gas smoker, which is right for me?

A pellet smoker is the easiest entry point. You set the temperature and walk away. The fuel (hardwood pellets) generates real wood smoke as it burns. A charcoal smoker (like an offset stick burner) gives the deepest, most controllable smoke flavour but requires hands-on temperature management every 30 to 60 minutes. A gas smoker is the most convenient but produces lighter smoke flavour because the gas itself does not generate wood smoke.

For most first-time smoker buyers, the pellet smoker is the right choice. It delivers genuine BBQ flavour with the same effort as cooking on a gas BBQ.

What pellets work with the Nexgrill Oakford, and where do I buy them?

Any food-grade hardwood pellet works in the Oakford range. Common woods include hickory (strong, classic BBQ), apple (mild, sweet), mesquite (intense, bold), and oak (medium, balanced). Different woods deliver different flavour profiles, and most cooks settle on a favourite blend over time.

We stock BBQr's Delight hardwood pellets at our Wetherill Park showroom in Sydney. Add a bag or two to your Nexgrill order and we will deliver them together. Avoid heating pellets sold for pellet stoves or industrial use, as those are not food-grade and can contain binders not intended for cooking.

Does the Nexgrill come with WiFi, and is it easy to set up?

Yes. Every Nexgrill Oakford pellet smoker has built-in WiFi for remote temperature control, cook monitoring, and done-temperature alerts via the Nexgrill app.

As part of our free Sydney delivery and install, we unbox, position, and pair your Nexgrill to your home WiFi so it is fully working when we leave. You do not need to wrestle with manufacturer setup instructions or troubleshoot the app connection yourself.

How long does a hopper of pellets last on the Nexgrill Oakford 1125 Pro?

The Oakford 1125 Pro has a 14.55 kg hopper capacity. Pellet consumption depends on cooking temperature. At low-and-slow temperatures (around 110 degrees Celsius) you can expect roughly 0.5 to 0.7 kg per hour, which means a full hopper covers a 20+ hour brisket cook without refilling. At higher searing temperatures, consumption increases to 1 to 1.5 kg per hour.

The hopper is also externally accessible, so you can top up pellets mid-cook without opening the cooking chamber or interrupting the cook.

Do I need to install or assemble the Nexgrill myself?

Not in Sydney metro. Every Nexgrill Oakford pellet smoker delivered within the Sydney metro area includes free unboxing, assembly, positioning, and WiFi pairing as part of our standard install service. The cooker is fully ready to cook on day one.

For deliveries outside Sydney metro, the smoker is shipped flat-packed for self-assembly with manufacturer instructions. Most Oakford models take a competent home assembler around 90 minutes to put together from box to first cook.

Can I see a Nexgrill Oakford pellet smoker in person before buying?

Yes. The full Nexgrill Oakford range (the 715, 875 Pro, and 1125 Pro) is on display at our Wetherill Park showroom in Sydney. Open the lids, see the hoppers, judge the build quality, and stand next to each model to get the scale right.

We are open Monday and Wednesday to Friday 10am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 2pm. Closed Tuesday and Sunday. Call us on 0434 010 411 if you want to arrange a longer visit to walk through cooking advice and the differences between models.
