The Yoder YS640s Competition Cart with Drawer (also searched as the YS640 or Yoder 640) is a Kansas-built pellet smoker with 1,070 sq in of cooking area, a ⅛ inch steel cooking chamber, the ACS Wi-Fi controller and direct flame grilling, on a raised competition cart with a factory-fitted, 150 lb rated slide-out storage drawer, tie-down points and 8 inch solid rubber tyres. It weighs about 230 kg (505 lb), comes in Silver or Orange with a half-depth second shelf as standard, and carries a 10-year cooking chamber warranty. The drawer cannot be added to a standard Competition Cart later. The silver unit is on display and ordered at our Wetherill Park showroom, with free Sydney metro delivery and installation. Every YS640s shares the same ⅛" steel cooking chamber, ACS controller, and 10-year cooking chamber warranty against rust-through. What separates this configuration is the heavy-duty slide-out storage drawer built into the end of the competition cart. Rated to 150 lbs, weather and dust resistant, measuring 21.3 in wide by 29.9 in deep by 8.9 in tall. Large enough to hold the Wood-Fired Oven attachment, the cast iron griddle, grill rails, gloves, and thermometers in one organised, secure space.

The ACS Controller and FireBoard
The Adaptive Control System is the brain of every YS640s. Built on FireBoard technology, it provides full Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity with remote monitoring via the FireBoard mobile app. Track both food probes, adjust cook temperatures, and check on a long smoke from anywhere.
The ACS actively manages auger feed rate and airflow in response to real-time temperature data. This is what keeps the grill stable across 12-hour smokes. The controller works fully without Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

A Key YS640s Differentiator
Direct Flame Grilling
Direct flame grilling is a feature Yoder introduced to pellet smokers nearly fifteen years ago. The trap door in the heat management plate opens to expose food directly to the offset firepot, giving you genuine sear marks and wood-fired flavour at high heat.
The YS640s runs from 66°C (150°F) for low-and-slow smoking to around 370°C (700°F) at the grill surface with direct flame. Both extremes are available on the same cooker without changing your setup.

The optional Wood-Fired Oven Attachment transforms the YS640s into a balanced wood-fired oven. The patent-pending system captures heat from the large offset firepot and redistributes it evenly. Ready to cook in as little as 30 minutes. The drawer configuration is particularly well suited: the attachment stores in the drawer when not in use, clean, protected, and immediately accessible.

Fuel and Pellet Compatibility
What to Run in Your YS640s
The YS640s runs on 100% hardwood pellets with no binders or fillers. We stock and personally use BBQr's Delight Contest Mix in our own unit and recommend it to every customer we deliver to.
The 20 lb hopper provides a solid reserve for extended cooks. On a 12-hour low-and-slow smoke you will typically use 8 to 12 kg of pellets depending on ambient temperature and cook temperature.
Assembly and Maintenance
Setup and Care
Assembly: Two-person assembly is strongly recommended given the total weight of 505 lb / about 230 kg. BBQ Republic handles all assembly as part of our free Sydney delivery and installation service.
Ongoing care:
- Clean grates and firepot after each session
- Empty the ash pot and grease tray regularly
- Keep the grill covered when not in use to protect the powder coat
