Why GMG Pellet Smokers

App-Controlled. Build-Quality. Stocked Locally.

GMG built its reputation on Wi-Fi connectivity before most pellet smoker brands had figured it out. The result is smart cookers with serious build quality, backed locally by an authorised Sydney dealer.

Reason 01

Wi-Fi from the Start

GMG was one of the first pellet smoker brands to ship Wi-Fi control as standard. The GMG app lets you monitor and adjust pit temperature from the couch, the office, or the supermarket carpark.

What This Means Long cooks without standing watch by the smoker.
Reason 02

Serious Build Quality

Heavy-gauge steel, stainless steel components, sealed bearings, and durable powder coating. GMG smokers are built for years of weekly cooks, not seasonal weekend use.

What This Means A smoker you do not have to replace in 3 years.
Reason 03

Authorised Australian Dealer

BBQ Republic is an authorised GMG dealer for Australia. Local stock, local warranty support, local delivery and installation across Sydney metro. No grey-market import surprises.

What This Means Genuine product, genuine support, local lead times.
Reason 04

The Peak Prime 2.0 is set up and ready to inspect at the Wetherill Park showroom. Open the lid, check the build, see the app interface in person before you commit.

Common Questions

Pellet Smoker FAQs

What buyers ask before a $3,000 BBQ decision. If your question is not here, call us or visit the showroom.

What is a pellet smoker?
A pellet smoker is an outdoor cooker that uses hardwood pellets as both heat source and flavour source. An electric auger feeds pellets from a hopper into a firepot where they ignite, while a fan circulates heat and smoke across the cooking chamber. The thermostat works like an oven, so you set a temperature (say 110°C for brisket) and the auger feeds pellets as needed to maintain it. Result: real wood smoke flavour with set-and-forget convenience, no fire-tending required.
How does the GMG Wi-Fi app work?
The GMG app (iOS and Android) connects to the Peak Prime 2.0 via Wi-Fi. From the app you can set target pit temperature, view current pit temp, monitor up to two internal meat probe readings, set alerts when meat hits target, and adjust temperature remotely. Pair the smoker to your home Wi-Fi and you can monitor cooks from anywhere with an internet connection. The app also includes a cook profile library for common cuts.
Pellet smoker versus offset or kamado. Which should I buy?
Each has trade-offs. Pellet smokers (like the GMG Peak Prime) are the most convenient: set the temperature, walk away, get app alerts. Great for working cooks who want BBQ without fire-tending. Kamados (like Big Green Egg) hold heat exceptionally well, work for grilling and smoking, but require manual fire management. Offsets give the deepest smoke flavour but demand constant attention. If you want minimal effort with strong results, pellet smokers win. If you want maximum smoke flavour and enjoy the process, offsets win. BBQ Republic stocks all three categories, so visit the showroom for a hands-on comparison.
What pellets work in the GMG Peak Prime?
Any standard food-grade hardwood pellet works in the Peak Prime, including GMG's own 4-blend pellet range (Gold, Texas, Fruitwood, Apple) and any premium hardwood pellet brand. The hopper feeds via a standard auger that handles all 6mm-diameter hardwood pellets. Avoid heating pellets (stove fuel) or any pellet with chemical binders. BBQ Republic stocks the GMG Premium pellet range alongside Lumber Jack and BBQr's Delight.
Do you deliver and install the Peak Prime 2.0 in Sydney?
Yes. BBQ Republic offers free Sydney metro delivery and installation on major pellet smokers including the Peak Prime 2.0. We can deliver the unit fully assembled, position it where you want it, set it up on your home Wi-Fi, and walk you through the app and first cook. Outside Sydney metro, we ship nationally with installation handled by local services. Contact us to confirm delivery options for your suburb.
How long do GMG pellet smokers last?
With basic care (covered when not in use, hopper kept dry, periodic firepot cleanout, ash vacuumed every 5 to 10 cooks), GMG pellet smokers regularly last 8 to 12 years of regular weekly use. The most common service items are the auger motor and the temperature controller, both of which are user-replaceable parts. BBQ Republic stocks spare parts and offers support for warranty claims and component replacement.
