Why GMG Pellets

Premium Hardwood. Universal Fit. Clean Burn.

GMG Premium pellets are not exclusive to GMG grills. The same food-grade hardwood that fuels GMG cookers works in any pellet smoker, including Yoder, Traeger, Pit Boss, Camp Chef, and Z Grills.

100% Food-Grade Hardwood
4 Blends Available
Reason 01

Food-Grade Hardwood Only

GMG pellets are 100% food-grade hardwood. No softwood fillers, no binders, no flavour oils sprayed onto base pellets. Just hardwood, milled and compressed under heat.

What This Means Cleaner smoke, real wood flavour, no off-notes.
Reason 02

Universal Pellet Grill Fit

Despite the GMG branding, these pellets work in any pellet grill. Yoder, Traeger, Pit Boss, Camp Chef, Z Grills, and BBQ Republic's own GMG cookers all run on them.

What This Means Switch brands of grill, keep the same fuel.
Reason 03

Low Ash, Clean Hopper

Lower ash content than budget pellets means less hopper cleaning, fewer auger jams, and more consistent burn temperature across long cooks.

What This Means More cooking, less maintenance between sessions.
Reason 04

Four Distinct Flavour Profiles

Each blend is built around a specific cooking style. Gold for everyday, Texas for beef, Fruitwood for poultry, Apple for delicate cuts. Not just one generic pellet.

What This Means Match the pellet to the cook for better results.

Common Questions

Pellet FAQs

What buyers ask before their first bag. If your question is not here, call us or visit the showroom.

Which GMG pellet blend should I buy?
Depends on what you cook most. Gold Blend is the all-purpose choice for daily cooks across beef, pork, chicken, and seafood. Texas Blend is for beef-heavy cooks (brisket, beef ribs, chuck roast) where you want stronger smoke. Fruitwood Blend suits pork, poultry, and ribs where you want sweet, gentle smoke. Apple Blend is the mildest, ideal for chicken, turkey, fish, and any delicate cut where you want subtle flavour. If you only own one bag, Gold is the safest starting point.
Can I use GMG pellets in a Yoder, Traeger, or other pellet grill?
Yes. GMG Premium pellets are universal-fit hardwood pellets. They work in any pellet grill, including Yoder Smokers, Traeger, Pit Boss, Camp Chef, Z Grills, Recteq, and Weber pellet cookers. The pellets are the same diameter and density as other premium hardwood pellets and feed through any standard auger system without issue. GMG branding refers to the manufacturer, not exclusive grill compatibility.
How long does a 12.7kg bag of pellets last?
Depends on your grill, cook temperature, and session length. As a rough guide: at low-and-slow temperatures (110 to 135°C / 225 to 275°F), pellet grills consume around 0.5 to 1kg per hour. At higher grilling temperatures (200°C+), consumption can rise to 1 to 2kg per hour. A 12.7kg bag therefore typically gives you 12 to 25 hours of low-and-slow cooking, which is roughly 2 to 4 full brisket cooks, or 8 to 12 weeknight cooks for chicken and ribs.
Are GMG pellets made in Australia?
No. Green Mountain Grills is an American company and the pellets are manufactured in the United States. BBQ Republic is the authorised Australian distributor for Green Mountain Grills, importing the pellets directly. Stock is held at the Wetherill Park showroom in Sydney for same-day pickup and national shipping.
How should I store pellet bags?
Pellets are hardwood compressed under heat with no chemical binders, which means they absorb moisture from the air over time. Sealed bags last indefinitely. Once opened, store in an airtight container (a sealed bucket, plastic bin with a lid, or vacuum-sealed bag) in a dry place off concrete (concrete wicks moisture). Damp pellets swell, jam augers, and burn unpredictably. If pellets crumble when you squeeze them, they are still good. If they have softened or expanded, replace them.
What is the difference between GMG pellets and budget pellets?
Three things separate premium pellets from budget pellets. First, wood content: premium pellets are 100% food-grade hardwood. Budget pellets often contain softwood fillers (pine, oak) with flavour oils sprayed on, which produce acrid smoke and resin buildup. Second, ash content: premium pellets produce 0.5 to 1% ash by weight, budget pellets can produce 3 to 5% ash, meaning more cleaning. Third, burn consistency: premium pellets are denser and burn at predictable temperatures, while budget pellets cause auger jams, fluctuating pit temperatures, and irregular smoke production. The price difference is recouped in less waste and better cooks.
