    450g BagResealable (1lb)
    100% PecanNo Oak Filler
    All ProteinsUniversal Wood
    All-NaturalChemical-Free

The universal smoke pellet. BBQr's Delight 100% Pecan smoking pellets deliver a mild, sweet, light smoke profile that complements every protein BBQ Republic stocks for: beef, pork, poultry, fish and game. The most versatile single-flavour pellet in the BBQr's Delight range, and the perfect first smoke tube wood for anyone trying the format.

Pecan is the botanical cousin to Hickory (both in the Carya genus), so the core smoke profile is familiar: bold, savoury, slightly bacony. What pecan adds is a more rounded, gentler character and subtle nutty undertones. In 450g pellet form, the small quantities used per cook (1/3 cup) make this gentleness even more pronounced: pecan in a smoke tube is forgiving, hard to over-smoke, and the safe choice when you're not sure which wood to try first.

What "smoking pellets" are (and aren't)

BBQr's Delight 450g pellets are a different product to pellet grill fuel. Both are wood pellets, but they have different jobs:

    ✓ These pellets are for:

Adding Pecan smoke flavour to any cooker. Use them in pellet smoke tubes (A-Maze-N, LIZZQ etc.), gas grill smoker boxes, electric smoker chip trays, foil packets over charcoal, kamados, or sprinkled directly onto lit lump charcoal. 100% pure pecan, no oak filler.

✗ These pellets are NOT for:

Filling the hopper of a pellet grill as your primary fuel. For that, you need 9kg pellet grill fuel. No direct 100% Pecan 9kg pellet exists, but our Lumber Jack 100% Hickory 9kg pellets deliver the closest matching Carya-family smoke profile for primary hopper fuel.

    100% Pure Pecan Wood

No oak filler, no flavour blending, no chemical treatments. Pure compressed pecan wood from American producers. Interior wood only (no bark) for clean burn and low ash.

    Beginner-Friendly Universal Wood

Mild, sweet and forgiving. Works on every protein (beef, pork, poultry, fish, game). The pellet to choose when you're not sure: hard to over-smoke, hard to misuse, complements virtually any rub or marinade.

    Hickory's Milder Cousin

Pecan and hickory are botanical cousins (Carya genus), sharing the same savoury smoke profile. Pecan adds nutty undertones and a more rounded, gentler character: ideal for proteins where hickory would be too aggressive.

    Works in Every Cooker

Gas grills, charcoal kettles, kamados (BGE), offset smokers, electric smokers (Masterbuilt), and pellet grills (as supplemental smoke). The universal flavour generator.

The Carya Cousin, in Pellet Form

    When in doubt, pecan.

Pecan and hickory share botanical roots: both trees belong to the Carya genus, native to the American South, and both have been used as smoking woods for centuries. They produce remarkably similar smoke profiles: bold, savoury, slightly sweet, with a characteristic bacony quality that defines classic American BBQ. What sets pecan apart is its subtle nutty undertone and its noticeably milder intensity: especially noticeable in pellet form where small quantities are used per cook.

For BBQ Republic customers buying their first smoke tube and unsure which pellet to start with, this is the recommendation. Pecan is genuinely the most versatile single smoke wood in BBQr's Delight's range: BBQr's Delight themselves position it as "great on beef, pork, poultry, fish, game". There is no protein this pellet can't enhance, and there is no rub or marinade it clashes with. Beginners can experiment without commitment to a strong character (mesquite is too intense, cherry adds visible colour, JD adds whiskey notes). Pecan is the neutral, universal smoke.

For experienced cooks, pecan in pellet form serves a different purpose: the delicate-protein smoke wood. Where pecan chunks deliver bold, robust smoke suitable for brisket and beef, pecan pellets in a smoke tube deliver gentle, mild smoke ideal for chicken, turkey, fish, smoked cheeses, and other applications where bolder woods would overpower the protein.

    Frequently asked questions

What does Pecan wood smoke taste like in pellet form?
Mild, sweet, light. Pecan and hickory share the same botanical family (Carya genus), so the core profile is familiar: bold, savoury, slightly sweet. What pecan adds is a more rounded character with subtle nutty undertones, and in pellet form (small quantities used per cook) the result is noticeably gentler than chunk-format pecan or hickory. This is what makes pecan pellets the most beginner-friendly option in the BBQr's Delight range.
How does this differ from Misty Gully Pecan chunks?
Three differences. First, provenance: BBQr's Delight pellets are American-sourced; Misty Gully chunks are Australian-sourced from QLD/NSW growers. Second, format: pellets work in any cooker via smoke tubes etc.; chunks are for charcoal cooking only (BGE, offset smokers, kettles). Third, intensity: pellet-format pecan in small quantities is mild and gentle; chunk-format pecan burning across hours is bold and robust. For mild smoke on chicken/fish in any cooker, use pellets. For bold smoke on brisket in a kamado, use chunks. Both are legitimate, different applications.
Pecan pellets vs Hickory pellets: which should I choose?
Both deliver Carya-family smoke (bold, savoury, slightly sweet) because they are botanical cousins. The differences are subtle: pecan has a more rounded, nutty character; hickory has a sharper, more bacony bite. For first-time smoke tube users, beginner cooks, or anyone smoking delicate proteins (chicken, turkey, fish), choose pecan: it's more forgiving and harder to over-smoke. For traditional American BBQ on beef, brisket, or pork ribs where you want classic Memphis or Kansas City character, choose hickory. Both work brilliantly on most cooks.
Is Pecan good for first-time smoke tube users?
Yes, it is the BBQr's Delight pellet we recommend for first-time smoke tube users. Pecan is the most forgiving wood in the range: hard to over-smoke, hard to clash with any rub or marinade, and effective on every protein BBQ Republic stocks for. New smoker users can experiment without commitment to a strong character (unlike mesquite which is intense, cherry which adds visible colour, or Jack Daniel's which adds distinctive whiskey notes). For "I'm not sure which wood to try" buyers, pecan is the right answer.
Can I use Pecan pellets for cold-smoked salmon or cheese?
Yes, particularly for savoury applications. While cherry is the traditional cold-smoking wood for delicate proteins like salmon (the Scandinavian heritage), pecan works beautifully for cold-smoked savoury cheeses (cheddar, gouda, parmesan), cold-smoked salt blends, and any cold-smoke application where you want gentle Carya-family character rather than fruit-wood sweetness. Use the same setup: 12-inch pellet smoke tube on a tray inside a sealed (unlit) BBQ or kamado for 3-4 hours per fill.
Should I soak Pecan pellets before use?
No. Like all smoking pellets, Pecan pellets are designed to burn dry. Soaking them would create steam, prevent proper smoke generation, dissolve the wood compounds that give them their character, and potentially cause the pellets to fall apart inside a smoke tube. Always use pellets straight from the bag. This is the most common first-time mistake: pellets are not chips, and they should never be soaked.
    What's the resealable bag for?
Each bag contains approximately 60 cooks' worth of pellets (1/3 cup per use), which means a single 450g bag can last many months for typical home cooks. The resealable bag keeps the remaining pellets dry and protected from humidity between uses: important in Sydney's humid climate where exposed pellets can absorb moisture and burn poorly. Always reseal the bag after each use and store in a cool, dry place.
Can I pick up from the showroom?
Yes. BBQr's Delight 100% Pecan smoking pellets are on display and available for immediate pickup from our Wetherill Park showroom, Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm. Sydney metro delivery is also available. Call 0434 010 411 to arrange.
