For the first few months of stocking Traeger, the question in the showroom has been the same almost every time: "Which one do I actually need?" With five models on the floor (the Pro 22, Pro 575, Woodridge Pro, Ironwood XL and Timberline XL) and prices from $1,099 to $7,999, it isn't obvious from a spec sheet alone.
Here's the part that surprises most people once we walk them through it: this range isn't simply "bigger and more expensive equals better for everyone." The step up through the range is mostly about which features and which level of temperature precision you actually need, not just size. In fact, one of our five models has noticeably less cooking space than the cheaper model directly below it. We'll get to why further down.
We stock the full Traeger range at BBQ Republic and are an authorised Traeger dealer in Sydney. This guide covers every model, what actually separates them, and which one makes sense for how you cook. All prices are current from our live inventory.

The Two Decisions You Need to Make
Unlike some brands where you're choosing between separate freestanding and built-in ranges, the Traeger lineup we stock is really one ladder. Answer these two questions and the right model gets obvious fast.
How much cooking space do you need? Across the five models, cooking area runs from 575 sq in on the Pro 575 up to 1,320 sq in on the Timberline XL flagship, with the Woodridge Pro (970 sq in) and Ironwood XL (924 sq in) in between. Household size and how often you cook for groups is the deciding factor here, not budget alone. As you'll see below, more expensive doesn't always mean more cooking space in this range, the Ironwood XL actually has less room than the cheaper Woodridge Pro below it.
How much of the feature and precision upgrade do you want to pay for? Stepping up from the Pro 22 to the Pro 575 adds WiFIRE app control. Stepping up again to the Woodridge Pro adds a genuine second tier of features. The Ironwood XL adds a construction change, dual-wall insulation, that affects how the grill performs in real conditions, not just what buttons it has. The Timberline XL adds a built-in induction side cooktop and moves into a different price bracket entirely.
What Every Traeger We Stock Has in Common
Before getting into what separates the five models, it's worth knowing what's standard across the entire range we carry.
WiFIRE App Control
The Pro 575, Woodridge Pro, Ironwood XL and Timberline XL all connect to your home WiFi via Traeger's WiFIRE system. Once connected, you can monitor and adjust the set temperature, check the meat probe reading, and get notified when your target is reached, all from the Traeger app on your phone. Alexa voice control is supported on all four of those models. The Pro 22 is the exception: it runs on Traeger's Digital Pro Controller instead, so there's no app or Alexa control on that model, but every control is still available on the grill itself, and it still holds temperature to within plus or minus 9 degrees Celsius. For every WiFIRE-connected model, our installation service sets up the WiFi connection and confirms the app is working on your phone before we leave.
Six Cooking Modes
Every model we stock runs the same six modes: Smoke (roughly 75-120°C, for brisket, ribs and pork shoulder), Grill (180-260°C, direct heat for steaks and burgers), Bake (150-220°C, convection for bread and pizza), Roast (160-230°C, whole chicken and vegetables), Braise (120-170°C, covered moist heat for tougher cuts) and BBQ (100-150°C, the low, steady, smoky setting most people buy a Traeger for in the first place).
Warranty
Every model we stock, including the Pro 22, carries a 3-year warranty, and as an authorised Traeger dealer, we handle warranty claims directly for anything purchased through BBQ Republic. The Pro 575, Woodridge Pro, Ironwood XL and Timberline XL also share a hopper clean-out door at the base of the hopper, so you can empty unused pellets quickly when changing wood flavour or storing the grill over winter. Leaving old or damp pellets in the hopper is the single most common cause of auger jams, so this is worth using.
Pro 22: The Most Affordable Way In
The Pro 22 is the newest addition to our Traeger range and the lowest-priced way into wood-fired cooking. It runs on Traeger's Digital Pro Controller rather than the WiFIRE app system the rest of the range uses, so there's no app or Alexa control, but it still holds temperature to within plus or minus 9 degrees Celsius and runs the same six cooking modes as every other model we stock.
Traeger Pro 22: $1,099

- Digital Pro Controller with Advanced Grilling Logic, holding temperature within ±9°C
- No WiFIRE app or Alexa control (Digital Pro Controller only)
- 1 meat probe included
- Porcelain-coated grill grates
- Sawhorse chassis with side-lift bar and all-terrain wheels
- 3-year warranty
The Pro 22 suits buyers who want genuine Traeger wood-fired flavour at the lowest possible entry price and don't need app control to be happy with a grill. It's also the easiest model in our range to move around, thanks to its all-terrain wheels and lift bar.

Pro 575: The WiFIRE Entry Point
The Pro 575 is the entry point into the WiFIRE-connected range and, for most households wanting app control, the right starting point. It runs the D2 controller with a brushless motor drivetrain, which means faster startup, steadier temperatures and quieter running than older brushed-motor Traeger models, plus Turbo Temp for faster recovery after the lid is opened, an included meat probe, and porcelain-coated grill grates.
Traeger Pro 575: $1,599.95

- 575 sq in cooking area (3,710 sq cm)
- WiFIRE WiFi and Alexa connectivity
- D2 controller with brushless drivetrain and Turbo Temp
- 1 meat probe included
- Porcelain-coated grill grates
- Hopper clean-out door
- Temperature range approximately 75°C to 260°C
- 3-year warranty
The Pro 575 is the right starting point for a household of two to four doing regular weekend cooks who want app control from day one. It comfortably handles a full brisket flat, multiple racks of ribs, or a whole chicken with room to spare, and it carries every core WiFIRE-connected Traeger technology at the lowest price in the connected range.

Woodridge Pro: The Feature Upgrade
The Woodridge Pro carries everything the Pro series has and adds a genuine second tier of features: Super Smoke Mode via Traeger's FreeFlow firepot, the EZ-Clean Grease and Ash Keg, a P.A.L. Pop-and-Lock accessory rail, ModiFIRE-compatible cooking surfaces, a full-colour digital display, an integrated pellet level sensor, Keep Warm Mode, a more accurate RTD temperature sensor, and Bluetooth meat thermometer compatibility alongside the included wired probe. It also happens to have the largest cooking area outside our flagship.
Traeger Woodridge Pro: $2,399

- 970 sq in cooking area (6,258 sq cm), the largest in the range outside the Timberline XL flagship
- Super Smoke Mode via FreeFlow firepot for more wood-fired flavour at low temperatures
- EZ-Clean Grease and Ash Keg: grease and pellet ash collect in one pull-out container
- P.A.L. Pop-and-Lock accessory rail and ModiFIRE-compatible cooking surfaces
- Full-colour digital display and integrated pellet sensor with low-fuel app alerts
- Keep Warm Mode, RTD temperature sensor, Bluetooth probe compatibility
- Temperature range approximately 75°C to 260°C
- 3-year warranty
If you want the most cooking space and the most complete feature set Traeger offers below the Timberline XL flagship, this is it. It suits buyers who want Super Smoke flavour development on long cooks and faster cleanup, and who aren't necessarily chasing the Ironwood XL's construction upgrade below or the Timberline XL's side cooktop.

Ironwood XL: The Precision Upgrade
The Ironwood XL carries over Super Smoke Mode, the EZ-Clean Keg, the P.A.L. rail and ModiFIRE compatibility from the Woodridge Pro, then adds what actually defines it: dual-wall fully insulated construction and Smart Combustion technology, a touchscreen display, two wired meat probes instead of one, and a 22lb pellet hopper.
Traeger Ironwood XL: $3,999.95

- 924 sq in cooking area (5,961 sq cm)
- Dual-wall fully insulated cook chamber
- Smart Combustion technology with RTD sensor feedback
- Touchscreen display
- 2 wired meat probes included
- 22lb pellet hopper capacity (approximately 10kg)
- Large fixed side shelf
- Super Smoke Mode, EZ-Clean Keg, P.A.L. rail and ModiFIRE compatibility carried over from Woodridge Pro
- Temperature range 74°C to 260°C
- 3-year warranty
This is the grill for buyers running long, low-and-slow cooks in variable conditions (a Sydney winter evening brisket, an overnight pork shoulder) who want tight temperature control below the Timberline XL flagship, covered next.

Timberline XL: The Flagship
The Timberline XL sits well above the rest of the range, both in price and in what it's built to do. It carries over Super Smoke Mode, the EZ-Clean Keg and ModiFIRE compatibility from the Woodridge Pro and Ironwood XL, then adds a built-in induction side cooktop for searing, three tiers of stainless steel cooking grates, and fully insulated dual-wall construction. It's the only model in our range with a side cooktop, and it's designed to be permanently built in rather than moved around the yard.
Traeger Timberline XL: $7,999

- 1,320 sq in cooking area (8,516 sq cm) across 3 tiers, the largest in our range
- Built-in Traeger Induction side cooktop for searing, sauteing, simmering and frying
- Fully insulated dual-wall construction
- Downdraft Exhaust and Super Smoke Mode
- 2 Traeger x MEATER wireless thermometers and 2 wired probes included
- 22lb pellet hopper with hopper clean-out and integrated pellet sensor
- WiFIRE WiFi and Alexa connectivity
- Temperature range 74°C to 260°C
- 3-year warranty
This is the grill for buyers who want everything: the most cooking space we stock, the tightest build, and a side cooktop that closes the gap pellet grills have traditionally had against a proper sear station. It's priced closer to our Yoder range than to the rest of the Traeger lineup, and it suits buyers after a permanent, built-in outdoor kitchen centrepiece rather than a grill they wheel in and out of the shed.

Why the Ironwood XL Has Less Cooking Space Than the Woodridge Pro
This is the detail that trips people up in the showroom, so it's worth being upfront about it here too: the Woodridge Pro has 970 square inches of cooking area. The Ironwood XL, which costs $1,600.95 more, has 924 square inches, less than the model directly below it.
The extra money on the Ironwood XL isn't buying more room. It's buying a fundamentally different chamber. The dual-wall insulated construction that gives the Ironwood XL its temperature stability takes up space inside the cabinet that a single-wall grill like the Woodridge Pro doesn't need to allocate. You're trading a small amount of cooking area for meaningfully tighter temperature control, particularly in wind or cold weather over a long cook.
If maximum cooking space for the money is the priority, the Woodridge Pro is genuinely the better buy of the two upper mid-range models. If temperature consistency over a 12-hour brisket cook in unpredictable Sydney weather is what you're paying for, the Ironwood XL is doing something the Woodridge Pro cannot. The Timberline XL breaks this pattern in the other direction: it's both the most expensive model we stock and the one with the most cooking space, at 1,320 square inches. The lesson holds regardless, don't assume price and cooking space move together anywhere in this range, check the numbers for the specific models you're comparing.
Which Model Is Right for You?
Tightest budget, just want to get into wood-fired cooking: Start with the Pro 22 at $1,099. It runs the same six cooking modes as the rest of the range at the lowest price we sell, without app control.
First pellet grill with app control, cooking for a household of two to four: The Pro 575 at $1,599.95 carries every core WiFIRE-connected Traeger technology at the lowest price and handles a full brisket flat comfortably.
Want the biggest cooking area outside the flagship and the fullest feature set below it, and don't mind paying for it: The Woodridge Pro at $2,399 has the largest cooking space in the range outside the Timberline XL, plus Super Smoke Mode, easier cleanup and pellet monitoring.
Serious about long, low-and-slow cooks and want tighter temperature control than the Woodridge Pro: The Ironwood XL at $3,999.95 trades a little cooking area for dual-wall insulation and Smart Combustion.
Want the most cooking space, a built-in sear station, and a permanent outdoor kitchen centrepiece: The Timberline XL at $7,999 is our flagship, with the most cooking space we sell and the only side cooktop in the range.
