The Coleman Pro Series 5-Burner is Coleman's flagship freestanding gas grill. It is the largest, most powerful grill in the Coleman range and the one that competes directly with premium alternatives like Broil King. At $2,199 it is positioned as a serious step up from the Revolution 4-Burner, and the question most buyers are asking before they commit is whether that premium is justified.
We stock the Pro Series 5-Burner at our Wetherill Park showroom and cook on it regularly. This is an honest review of what it does well, where it falls short, and who it is right for.

- You want to integrate with the Revolution Modular System
Stick with the Revolution 4-Burner if:

- The extra cooking space is not necessary
Our rating
The Pro Series 5-Burner is an excellent grill. The cooking surface is the largest in the Coleman range, the power output is outstanding, and the wok burner genuinely adds versatility. It is not a replacement for the Revolution 4-Burner for most buyers. For large families and serious entertainers who need maximum capacity, it is the right choice at the price.

The Wok Burner: Is It Worth It?

The dedicated wok burner is what separates the Pro Series 5-Burner from every other grill in the Coleman range. At 11.9 MJ it is a powerful, high-output burner positioned on the left side of the cart, separate from the main five-burner cooking surface. It is designed to work with a wok or a round-bottomed pan and produces the concentrated, high-heat flame that wok cooking requires.
The honest answer depends entirely on how you cook. If you cook stir-fries, fried rice, Asian-style noodle dishes, or any recipe that requires wok hei (the smoky, charred flavour from high-heat wok cooking), the burner is a genuine addition to your outdoor cooking capability. It is not a marketing feature. It produces real wok-level heat that a standard flat side burner cannot match.
If you do not cook Asian food and were planning to use the wok burner as a side burner for sauces, it is less useful than the integrated side burner on the Revolution 4-Burner. A wok burner is designed for high-heat work. For simmering a sauce at low heat, the Revolution 4-Burner's side burner is a better tool. This is one of the key decision points between the two models.
Cooking Performance

The Pro Series 5-Burner is one of the most powerful gas grills we stock. Total output of 86.9 MJ across six burner points means there is no shortage of heat for any cooking task. On a 40-degree summer day, the kind of ambient temperature that causes underpowered grills to struggle, the Pro Series holds temperature without effort.
The die-cast aluminium burner box with double-wall insulation is a genuine improvement over standard steel construction. Double-wall insulation means the cooking chamber retains heat more effectively, which translates to faster preheat times and more consistent cooking temperatures across all five zones.
Zone cooking across five burners gives you a lot of flexibility. We regularly use the left two burners at low heat for chicken while the right three run at high heat for steaks and vegetables, with the warming rack holding cooked items. On a 5,174 cm² total cooking surface this is genuinely comfortable. You do not feel like you are managing a crowded grill.
The porcelain-coated cast iron grates produce good sear marks and hold heat well between loads of food. They are not solid stainless like the Broil King grids, but they perform at an appropriate level for the price point and are straightforward to maintain.
Flare-Free Technology is standard on the Pro Series, the same system used across the Revolution range. The double-stacked grates capture dripping fat and redirect it to the grease channel rather than letting it fall onto the burners. In practice this means significantly fewer flare-ups than conventional gas grills, which is particularly useful when cooking fatty cuts like lamb chops or sausages for a group.
Build Quality and Materials

The Pro Series is a step up from the Revolution range in construction. The matte black finish is more premium than the gloss options on the Revolution, and the overall aesthetic is more professional. Six tool hooks, a large cabinet base, and folding side shelves give it a well-equipped feel that suits regular entertaining use.
The die-cast aluminium burner box is a notable upgrade. Aluminium is lighter than steel but when die-cast it is rigid and dimensionally stable under heat. The double-wall construction reduces heat transfer to the exterior of the grill, which matters both for safety and for cooking efficiency.
It is worth being clear about where the Pro Series sits relative to Broil King. The Pro Series is built to a quality appropriate for its price point. It is not built to the same commercial-grade standard as a Broil King Regal Q590. The grates are porcelain-coated cast iron rather than solid stainless, and the overall construction does not have the same weight and heft as the Broil King range. For most buyers at this price point this is entirely acceptable. For buyers who want the absolute best build quality available, Broil King is the comparison to make.
Pro Series 5-Burner vs Revolution 4-Burner
| Feature | Pro Series 5-Burner | Revolution 4-Burner |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $2,199 | $1,399 |
| Primary cooking area | 4,129 cm² | 3,097 cm² |
| Total power | 86.9 MJ | 41.2 MJ |
| Side burner | No (wok burner instead) | Yes |
| Wok burner | Yes (11.9 MJ) | No |
| Modular system | Yes | Yes |
| Best for | 6 to 8+ people, wok cooking | 4 to 6 people, everyday use |
The $800 price difference between the Pro Series and the Revolution 4-Burner is significant. What you get for that difference: 33% more primary cooking area, more than double the total power output, a wok burner instead of a side burner, and a more premium matte black finish.
What you give up: the integrated side burner. This is the key trade-off. If you regularly use a side burner for sauces, warming baked beans, or heating bread, the Revolution 4-Burner is the more practical choice despite its smaller cooking surface.
If you regularly cook for six or more people, the additional cooking area on the Pro Series becomes genuinely useful. If you cook for four to six, the Revolution 4-Burner covers most sessions without feeling cramped.
Pro Series 5-Burner vs Broil King
The Pro Series 5-Burner at $2,199 is often compared to the Broil King Regal Q590 Pro at $5,499. They are fundamentally different propositions and not direct competitors.
The Broil King is commercial-grade construction with solid stainless steel grids, Dual-Tube burners, and a 15-year warranty. It will last 20+ years with proper care. The Coleman Pro Series is a premium family grill built to a price point that makes it accessible. It will last 7-10+ years with proper care.
If you are asking whether the Pro Series is a good grill, the answer is yes. If you are asking whether it competes with Broil King on build quality and long-term durability, it does not and is not trying to. They exist at different price points for different buyers.

Who Should Buy the Pro Series 5-Burner?
The Pro Series 5-Burner is right for you if you regularly cook for six or more people and need a cooking surface that handles that load comfortably. It is also right if you cook Asian food regularly and want a proper wok burner alongside a full-size gas grill. There is no other grill in our range that offers that combination.
It is not the right choice if you cook for four to six people and would use the additional cooking area only occasionally. The Revolution 4-Burner at $800 less covers most family cooking situations and includes a side burner that many buyers find more useful than a wok burner for everyday cooking tasks.
It is also not the right choice if build quality and longevity are your primary criteria and budget is less of a concern. Broil King is the answer at that end of the market.
The Pro Series sits in a clear position: maximum Coleman performance and cooking capacity at a price point that is still accessible compared to premium alternatives. For the buyer it is designed for, it delivers.
