The 1400 degree Fahrenheit rating covers the high-heat, short-contact work that ruins ordinary oven mitts: lifting a hot grate off the coals, adjusting a firebox, opening a screaming hot lid, or moving a log. The non-slip silicone grip gives you a secure hold on hot, heavy, and greasy gear where a smooth glove would slip.
