We bought ours the same week we got our first Yoder back in 2014, and it has been part of the routine ever since. After every cook, once the grill has cooled down, the cover goes on. Does it fit both the YS640 and the YS640s on the Standard Cart?
Yes. It fits both on the Standard Cart. What matters when choosing a cover is the cart, Standard or Competition, not the model suffix.
Does it cover the shelves as well?
Yes. It is custom-made for the full Standard Cart footprint, including the side shelves, hopper and cart frame, not just the grill body.
What is it made from?
Heavy-duty waterproof fabric, with the Yoder Smokers logo monogrammed in white. It slips on and off with no tools or fixings.
Can I leave it on in all weather?

Should I cover the grill after every cook?
Yes. We have covered our own YS640 after every cook since 2014, and it is the main reason its finish has held up so well. Once the grill has cooled, the cover goes on. It takes seconds.
Can I put the cover on before the grill has cooled?
No. Wait until the outside of the grill is cool to the touch. Covering a warm grill traps heat and moisture, which can damage the fabric and cause condensation on the metal.
Why a Yoder cover rather than a generic one?
Generic covers leave gaps around the hopper, shelves and cart frame, which is where wind-driven rain, UV and coastal salt air get in. This cover is cut for the YS640 on the Standard Cart, so every part is covered.
How does it work with the Yoder Grill Mat?
They protect different things. The cover protects the grill from rain, UV, dust and debris between cooks. The Yoder Smokers Grill Mat, sold separately, protects your deck or patio from grease, ash and heat during cooks. For complete protection, use both.
How do I clean the cover?
Use mild soap and water with a soft cloth or brush, and rinse off loose dust with a garden hose. Let it air dry completely before refitting or folding it, as storing it damp can cause mildew. Do not machine wash or tumble dry it.
