The Defining Masterbuilt Technology

GravityFed Charcoal, DigitalFan Control

This is what separates the Masterbuilt Gravity Series from every other charcoal cooker. The convenience of gas, the flavour of charcoal, and a fire that feeds and regulates itself.

The Masterbuilt Gravity Series GravityFed hopper and DigitalFan system that feeds charcoal and holds temperature automatically
Inside The Hopper System
How It Holds Temperature

The Gravity Series System, Up Close.

You are still cooking on real charcoal, but you are no longer managing the fire by hand. Three parts work together to feed the fire and hold your temperature for hours.

  • 01

    The GravityFed Hopper

A tall vertical chute holds your charcoal, lump or briquettes. As the coals at the base burn down, gravity feeds fresh fuel into the fire. A single fill runs a long cook with no topping up, even through an overnight smoke.

  • 02

    The DigitalFan and Control Panel

You set a target temperature on the panel or the Masterbuilt app. The DigitalFan controls airflow to the coals to hold it, speeding up to climb to a sear and easing back to settle into a low smoke. This is the part a person normally does by hand on a kettle or an offset.

  • 03

    The Sealed Charcoal Firebox

The fire sits in a sealed, gasketed body that locks in heat, smoke and moisture through the entire cook. It burns lump or briquettes cleanly and efficiently, which is how the Gravity Series ranges from a low 107°C smoke up to a 371°C sear on the same cooker.

What Gravity Feed Lets You Cook
For The Overnight Cook

Set And Forget Low And Slow

  • Load the hopper, set the temperature
  • The DigitalFan holds your number for hours
  • 15 hours or more on a single hopper
  • Put the brisket on before bed and sleep

The Gravity Series holds a steady low and slow without babysitting. Set the temperature, walk away, monitor from the app, and wake up to a properly cooked brisket.

For The High-Heat Sear

Sear Up To 371°C

  • Crank the temperature for a hot sear
  • Steaks, chops, smashed burgers
  • Charcoal char, not a gas flame
  • The same smoker that ran your brisket

The Gravity Series is not only a smoker. Open it up to a high heat and you get genuine charcoal searing, then settle it back down for low and slow on the same cook.

For The Flavour Purist

Genuine Charcoal Flavour

  • Burns lump charcoal or briquettes
  • Real smoke and real charcoal taste
  • The ease of gas, the flavour of charcoal
  • No pellets, no gas, no compromise

Pellet and gas cookers trade flavour for convenience. The Gravity Series gives you the hands-off convenience without giving up the charcoal flavour that started all of this.

For The Connected Cook

App-Connected Control

  • Set and monitor from your phone
  • WiFi and the Masterbuilt app
  • Watch the meat probe temperatures
  • Adjust without lifting the lid

Stay across the cook from inside. Set the temperature, watch the probes and adjust from the app, whether you are in the backyard or prepping sides in the kitchen.

Cooking area on a spec sheet is abstract. The Gravity Series 1150 gives you around 1,156 square inches across two cooking levels, which is the difference between cooking for the family and cooking for the whole street. Here is roughly what that looks like in real food.

Common Questions

Masterbuilt Smokers FAQs.

Everything buyers ask before they visit. Direct, factual, no fluff. If you have a question we have not answered here, call us on 0434 010 411.

Are the Gravity Series 600 and 1150 actually in stock?

Yes. Both the Gravity Series 600 and the Gravity Series 1150 are in stock and on display at our Wetherill Park showroom. You can see and operate them before you buy, and take one home or have it delivered without waiting on a backorder.

Do I have to buy online, or can I come in?

Come in. The whole point of the showroom is to see the smoker in person and ask a real cook the questions that matter. You can buy over the phone on 0434 010 411 if that is easier, but most buyers prefer to see both models first, and we will never rush you.

How does delivery and installation work?

Free Sydney metro delivery and personal installation by the owner. We deliver the smoker, set it up in position, pair the app, and run a first cook walkthrough so you are confident before we leave. The unit arrives ready to use, not left in a box at the door.

Do you deliver outside the Sydney metro area?

Free delivery and installation covers the Sydney metro area. If you are further out, give us a call and we will work out the best delivery option for your location. Either way, the smoker is set up properly, not dropped at the kerb.

Which should I choose, the 600 or the 1150?

If you cook for a family of up to four, the 600 is the everyday choice and fits a normal backyard. If you regularly feed a crowd or want to run several cuts at once, the 1150 gives you nearly double the cooking area. Both cook the same way. Come in and stand in front of both, and we will help you choose honestly.

How does a gravity fed charcoal smoker actually work?

You load lump charcoal or briquettes into the tall GravityFed hopper and light it once. Gravity feeds fuel to the fire as it burns, and the DigitalFan controls airflow to hold the temperature you set on the panel or the app. You get real charcoal cooking without managing the fire by hand.

Is it real charcoal flavour, or more like gas?

Real charcoal. The Gravity Series burns actual lump charcoal or briquettes, so you get genuine charcoal flavour. What it borrows from gas is the convenience, since the hopper feeds itself and the fan holds your temperature. The taste of charcoal, the ease of gas.

What charcoal should I use?

Either lump charcoal or briquettes work in the GravityFed hopper. Our top selling lump is Argie Grillz Argentine Lump Charcoal, which burns clean and hot, and we stock a full range of fuel in the showroom so you can leave set up for your first cook.

Is my warranty valid if I buy from BBQ Republic?

Yes. We are an authorised Masterbuilt dealer, so your warranty is supported through the correct channel from day one. Buying from a grey import or an unauthorised seller can put your warranty at risk, which is one more reason to buy local from a dealer you can call.

Where are you, and when are you open?

5 Vicars Place, Wetherill Park NSW 2164. Open Monday and Wednesday to Friday 10am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 2pm, and closed Tuesday and Sunday. Call 0434 010 411 before you set out if you want to be sure someone is free to walk you through the range.

How much do they cost, and do you price match?

Call us on 0434 010 411 for current pricing on the 600 and the 1150. We back our pricing with a price beat guarantee against any authorised Australian dealer, so you can buy local, see it in person and have it installed without paying more for the privilege.

Can I see other brands at the showroom too?

Yes. As well as Masterbuilt we are an authorised dealer for Yoder and Big Green Egg, and we stock Green Mountain Grills and Hark. If you are weighing up gravity fed charcoal against pellet, kamado or electric, you can see them side by side and we will give you honest advice on which suits your cooking.
