Heat-resistant gloves for BBQ and oven use. Meta aramid fiber nomex construction. Withstands temperatures up to 800°C (1472°F). One-size-fits-all. Machine washable. Reinforced stitching. Available at our Wetherill Park showroom.
Argie Grillz BBQ Heat Resistant Gloves provide hand protection when handling hot items on grills, in ovens, or around fires. The gloves are constructed from meta aramid fiber nomex, which is a heat-resistant synthetic fibre used in firefighter gear, industrial protective equipment, and high-temperature applications.
The gloves are rated to withstand temperatures up to 800°C (1472°F), which covers the temperature range for most BBQ and oven tasks. This includes handling hot grill grates, moving cast iron cookware, adjusting coals or wood in charcoal grills, handling hot Dutch ovens, or removing items from ovens.
The one-size-fits-all design uses a flexible construction that accommodates different hand sizes. The gloves are machine washable for easy cleaning after use, and feature reinforced stitching at stress points for durability.
The gloves are suitable for use with gas BBQs, charcoal grills, kamado cookers, smokers, ovens, stovetops, and fireplaces. They provide protection for any cooking or grilling task that requires handling hot metal, ceramic, or cast iron surfaces.
As an authorised Argie Grillz stockist, we have the Argie Grillz BBQ Heat Resistant Gloves on display at our Wetherill Park showroom alongside the full Argie Grillz range of Argentinian charcoal, parrillas, and accessories.
Meta aramid fiber nomex construction The gloves are made from meta aramid fiber nomex, which is a synthetic fibre developed for high-temperature applications. Meta aramid fibres have an inherent heat resistance that does not rely on coatings or treatments. The fibres retain their structural integrity and protective properties when exposed to high temperatures.
Nomex is the same material used in firefighter turnout gear, race car driver suits, and industrial protective clothing. The material does not melt, drip, or support combustion when exposed to flame or extreme heat. This makes it appropriate for BBQ and cooking applications where hands may be exposed to high temperatures, hot metal surfaces, or open flames.
The glove construction uses multiple layers of nomex fabric to provide insulation between the heat source and your hands. The layered design creates air pockets that slow heat transfer, which gives you time to handle hot items safely before heat penetrates through to your skin.
Temperature resistance up to 800°C (1472°F)
The gloves are rated to withstand temperatures up to 800°C (1472°F). This temperature rating covers the range for most BBQ and cooking tasks:
The 800°C rating means the gloves can handle brief contact with very hot surfaces without melting or degrading. However, the rating does not mean you can hold your hands at 800°C for extended periods. Heat transfers through the glove material over time, so even with high-temperature gloves, you should minimize exposure time when handling extremely hot items.
For most BBQ tasks like moving grill grates, adjusting coals, or handling hot Dutch ovens, the gloves provide adequate protection for the 5-10 seconds required to complete the task.
One-size-fits-all design The gloves use a flexible construction that accommodates different hand sizes. The nomex fabric has some stretch, and the glove dimensions are designed to fit hands ranging from small to large. The gloves are not form-fitting like disposable gloves, but rather have a looser fit that allows for hand movement and flexibility.
The one-size design works for most users, but very small hands (children) or very large hands may find the fit less than ideal. If fit is critical for your application, consider trying the gloves before purchasing or checking the dimensions (23 x 18.5 cm when packaged) to estimate whether they will fit your hands.
Machine washable for easy cleaning The gloves are machine washable, which makes them easy to clean after use. BBQ and cooking gloves accumulate grease, smoke residue, and food particles during use. Machine washing removes these deposits and restores the gloves to clean condition.
Wash the gloves in cold or warm water with mild detergent. Do not use bleach or fabric softener, as these can degrade the nomex fibres. Air dry the gloves after washing. Do not tumble dry, as excessive heat can damage the protective properties of the material.
Reinforced stitching for durability The gloves feature reinforced stitching at stress points such as the seams, fingers, and cuffs. Reinforced stitching prevents the gloves from separating or tearing during use, which extends their lifespan and maintains protective coverage.
Gloves without reinforced stitching can develop holes or tears at seam lines, which exposes your hands to heat. Reinforced stitching eliminates this weak point and ensures the gloves remain intact even with frequent use.
Suitable for multiple cooking applications The gloves work for any cooking or grilling task that requires handling hot surfaces:
The gloves are universal and not specific to any particular cooking method or equipment type.
Nomex gloves provide better heat protection than standard fabric oven mitts because nomex fibres are inherently heat-resistant rather than relying on thick fabric layers for insulation. Nomex gloves also provide better dexterity because they are thinner and more flexible than quilted oven mitts, which makes them easier to use for tasks that require finger mobility.
The trade-off is that nomex gloves are more expensive than standard fabric mitts. For users who only need to remove baking trays from ovens at 180-200°C, standard mitts may be adequate. For users who grill frequently, work with charcoal, or handle very hot cast iron cookware, nomex gloves are the better choice.
After each use: Allow the gloves to cool completely before storing. If the gloves are soiled with grease or food particles, wash them before storing.
Washing: Machine wash in cold or warm water with mild detergent. Do not use bleach, fabric softener, or harsh chemicals. Air dry the gloves completely before storing or using again. Do not tumble dry, as excessive heat can damage the nomex fibres.
Storage: Store the gloves in a dry location away from direct sunlight. Do not store the gloves while damp, as this can promote mildew growth.
Inspection: Before each use, inspect the gloves for holes, tears, or worn areas. If the gloves are damaged, replace them. Damaged gloves do not provide adequate protection and should not be used.
Replacement: Replace the gloves if they develop holes, tears, or significant wear. Nomex gloves typically last 1-3 years with regular use, depending on frequency and how aggressively they are used.
The gloves are rated to withstand temperatures up to 800°C, but this does not mean you can hold your hands at 800°C indefinitely. Heat transfers through the glove material over time. For very hot items (above 400°C), limit contact to 5-10 seconds. For moderately hot items (200-400°C), you can handle them for 15-30 seconds. For items below 200°C, you can handle them for longer periods.
No. Nomex gloves are not waterproof. Do not use the gloves to handle items in boiling water or other liquids, as the liquid will soak through the fabric and cause burns. Use the gloves for dry heat applications only.
Yes. The gloves are suitable for use with kamado cookers and ceramic grills. Use the gloves to handle hot grates, adjust vents, or move hot cast iron cookware inside the kamado. The 800°C temperature rating covers the heat range for kamado cooking.
The gloves use a one-size-fits-all design that accommodates most adult hand sizes. The nomex fabric has some stretch and flexibility. Very small hands (children) or very large hands may find the fit less than ideal. Check the package dimensions (23 x 18.5 cm) to estimate fit.
