How MEATER Works

Truly Wireless. Dual Sensors. Smart App.

MEATER replaces the old wired-probe setup with a fully wireless probe that reads internal meat temperature and ambient pit temperature at the same time, then streams that data to your phone.

2 Sensors per Probe
100m Wi-Fi Range (Pro)
4 Probes on Pro XL
$199+ Starting Price
How 01

Insert and Charge

Insert the probe into the thickest part of the meat before cooking. The probe contains both an internal sensor (in the tip) and an ambient sensor (at the handle). Charged from the wooden charger between cooks.

Placement Tip Stop at the safety mark, do not push past it.
How 02

Connect via App

Open the MEATER app on your phone. PLUS uses Bluetooth with a booster station. Pro line connects via Wi-Fi through the booster, giving you 100m of range and out-of-the-house monitoring through MEATER Cloud.

Pro Tip Pair the booster to your home Wi-Fi for unlimited range.
How 03

Cook Prediction

The MEATER app uses internal + ambient temp readings to estimate finish time as the cook progresses. The longer the cook runs, the more accurate the prediction becomes. Useful for planning side dishes and rests.

Why It Matters Knowing when brisket finishes is the hardest part of BBQ.
How 04

Alerts and Rest Timer

Set target temperature and walk away. The app alerts when you hit your number, then guides you through the carryover rest with a timer so the meat finishes at exactly the right internal temp on the plate.

Why It Matters Pulled-too-early or rested-wrong is the rookie mistake.

See It On the Showroom

Common Questions

MEATER FAQs

What buyers ask before choosing a probe. If your question is not here, call us or visit the showroom.

Which MEATER should I buy?
Depends on how many cuts you cook simultaneously and how serious your BBQ is. MEATER PLUS ($199) suits home cooks doing single cuts in a kitchen oven, gas grill, or kamado. MEATER PRO ($249) upgrades to Wi-Fi range and faster charging, still single probe, ideal for serious home cooks. MEATER Pro Duo ($399) gives you two independent probes, perfect for two-cut weekend cooks (brisket plus pork). MEATER PRO XL ($649) gives you four probes, the choice for competition cooks, caterers, and anyone running multiple pits or large multi-cut sessions.
What is the difference between MEATER PLUS and MEATER PRO?
Both are single-probe wireless thermometers, but the Pro line is the newer generation with significant upgrades. PLUS uses Bluetooth with a booster station for range extension. PRO uses Wi-Fi connectivity (still via the booster) and is supported by MEATER Cloud for genuinely out-of-the-house monitoring. PRO charges faster, has improved sensor accuracy, and is built for longer BBQ-grade cooks. PLUS is the cost-effective entry point. PRO is the upgrade for serious cooks who do long sessions.
Can I use MEATER in a kamado, offset, or pellet smoker?
Yes. MEATER probes are rated for ambient temperatures up to 275 to 287°C depending on model, which covers all standard BBQ cooks. They work in Big Green Egg, Yoder, Traeger, Weber, kamado, offset, electric, and gas grills. The probe sits inside the meat the entire cook with the ambient sensor exposed to the pit air. As long as you do not pinch the probe in the lid seal, it survives the cook. Many MEATER owners use it in their oven for indoor cooks as well.
How far is the wireless range?
Depends on the model and how it is paired. MEATER PLUS uses Bluetooth which has line-of-sight range up to roughly 50m, extended by the booster station. PRO line uses Wi-Fi through the booster, which gives line-of-sight range up to 100m. With the booster connected to your home Wi-Fi and MEATER Cloud enabled, range becomes effectively unlimited (you can leave home, get an alert from work, drive home in time). Solid walls and microwaves can reduce real-world range, so test in your specific setup.
Is the MEATER probe dishwasher safe?
The probes themselves are not dishwasher safe. Clean by hand with warm soapy water, taking care not to submerge the handle end where the wireless electronics sit (the safety mark indicates how far is safe to dunk). The wooden charger is also hand-clean only. After cleaning, wipe dry and store in the charger to maintain battery. With normal use and proper care, probes last years.
What is the MEATER app and do I need a smartphone?
Yes, MEATER requires a smartphone (iOS or Android) running the MEATER app to function. The probe sends temperature data via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to your phone, where the app displays internal and ambient temps, target alerts, cook predictions, and rest timers. The app is free to download and includes a cook guide library, preset target temps by cut, and the ability to log past cooks. Without the app, the probe is just an inert sensor.
